Short Property Description
First settled in 1893, this 15 acre farm has produced cut flowers and fruit since settlement. We arrived in 1994 and since then it has grown to house over 1000 varieties of heritage fruit trees that are managed by rare breed animals & poultry.
We’ve been teaching Permaculture, organics & Bio-dynamics here for 20 years, and have developed the property as a Permaculture demonstration farm. We also teach fruit tree classes, cheese making, cider & wine making.
Our nursery & farm shop is open on Fridays, and has become a hub for Permies (our 500+ students come here to talk & meet others). Work in the orchard, pruning & picking fruit, in the nursery with potted trees, plus managing grass, fencing, animal care, building & GFM.
We are not a holiday farm, we specialise in post-PDC (Permaculture Design Course) intern skills. Accommodation for 2 in a studio, with separate facilities. Some shared meals, and food provided for self-catering. Meat-based diet. Vegetarians catered for. No children. No smoking on property. Initial stay 2-4 weeks. Prefer long stays.
