Hey there, I’m Tess! A lover of life and all the life within it. I’m deeply passionate about food and fascinated by it’s natural life cycle. I love discovering and experimenting with new flavours. I am inspired by my nonna, who at 95, has been growing and cooking organic vegetables and herbs her whole life.
I am very curious about the world and am at my best when learning and being challenged. I value making genuine connections with people and places – I am empathic and love to listen. I am a positive, caring, determined, adventurous and resilient person.
I believe that I learn something from every new experience so I’m happy to get my hands dirty and give anything a go! My study and work background has been in Human Resources, however after spending time getting to know myself over the past couple of years, I’m currently in a period of change and transformation. I’ve learnt that I am motivated by being outside amongst plants and animals and working with all of my senses.
Over the past few months whilst exploring this beautiful country, I’ve worked at a nursery in Darwin and on a small fruit and vegetable farm in Agnes Water.
I love moving my body in ways that feel good, whether that be through yoga, running, swimming, cooking, hiking or having a boogy. I prioritise taking time for myself by meditating, reading, listening to music or exploring a new place. I also enjoy going to festivals or gatherings where I am connecting with new people, listening to stories and creating beautiful experiences.
Why I joined WWOOF
I joined WWOOF because I believe that all living things are interconnected – therefore I want to learn how to sustain our environment and live in harmony with each other.
I am very interested in learning more about Permaculture and getting some hands on experience in an organic farm. I value supporting local farmers, so being an Australian exploring my own backyard, I want to help out in any way that I can.
From my WWOOFing experiences, I hope to gain more knowledge and skills in Permaculture, growing organic produce and sustaining our earth, so I can be the change I want to see and share my learnings with others.
I want to meet and make connections with incredible people by learning about their culture and their stories. Finally, I hope to gain more clarity on the direction of my next chapter and start putting some ideas into action.
