Full Property Description
We grow, eat, and preserve, a wide range of fruit & vegetables. Milking is a daily job, as is processing milk into yogurt and cheeses. There are often a range of building & maitenance projects on the go as well as chopping wood in winter and cutting the grass in the summer.
Our bush includes a wide variety of ecotypes including rainforest and banksia woodland, with a permanent creek. It is home to a huge variety of wildlife, including wallabies, wombats, possums, potoroos, bandicoots, lyrebirds, and a platypus.
Cabbage Tree Creek is a small village of around 45 people, with a cafe that makes beautiful coffees and treats.
The district has beautiful ocean beaches and river inlets, and miles of coastal bush walking track. We are about 28 kms from the nearest town, Orbost.
Organic/Biological methods we use
Our orchard and veggie garden are managed organically, with substantial inputs from the floor of the goat shed. Most of the excess and prunings goes back into the goats. Our power and water for the house are sustainably managed through solar and rainwater collection.
