    Short Property Description

    We run an organic meat and wool business on a community title farm near Canowindra in NSW. We have hosted wwoofers for more than 15 years. We live in a straw and earth house which we built ourselves. Andrew has a background in soil science and agriculture. Margie is a trained permaculture designer and community facilitator.

    Full Property Description

    We are part of a community title farm in Central West NSW. There are other businesses and households on our farm who frequently host woofers.

    Our business includes several enterprises – sheep for wool and meat,  household and cafe meat supply,  occasional catering and market events.

    Wwoofing with us includes tasks such as sheepwork,  weed control,  creating wildlife habitat, fence maintenance, food processing, permaculture gardening, farm and building maintainance.

    You will learn new skills and have the opportunity to work both in a team and individually.

    Rayz Organic Grazing uses regenerative land management techniques including:  Time control grazing,  Holistic Resource Management,  Pasture cropping,  Multi species cover cropping,  Certified Organic Farming.

    All of these techniques mean that our farm demonstrates how grazing animals can build the ecosytem function in the landscape – while providing healthy products that people are proud to eat and wear.

    We have successfully hosted WWOOFers from Australia, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, England, Hong Kong, Japan,   Taiwan, South Korea, China, Belgium, Switzerland, Singapore.

    We have info sheets available to give potential WWOOFers a full picture of what they will experience when they visit. We can email these to you.

    Organic/Biological methods we use

    We are organically certified and practise holistic grazing management and low stress stock handling techniques.

    Special Conditions

    WWOOFing with us

    Non-smokers only and no recreational drug use.
    We run an organic meat business. No vegetarian or vegan Wwoofers.
    We provide healthy meals and snacks. Soft drink and other junk food is on an own purchase basis.  Small amounts of alcoholic drinks are shared at special events but not every day.

    We can take 1 – 4 WWOOFers at a time.

    You need to be prepared for outdoor physical work in a variety of weather conditions.
    You will need good boots, socks, jeans, collared shirts, a hat with a broad brim, a jumper and or jacket for farm work.  You can purchase work clothes new or 2nd hand if you don’t have these yet.
