Short Property Description

Small mixed orchard planted 20 yrs ago in the Otways. High rainfall, cool winters and warm summers allow us to grow berries, stonefruit and pomme fruit. Certified org seedling from Ceres are added to the mix seasonally. Certified Organic NASAA 2002 to 2013, currently managed with an increasing biodynamic approach. Our own bees pollinate the orchard State Forest on one boundary, beautiful Manna, Messmate and understory spp. We sell our surplus fruit at the Apollo Bay Community Market on Saturday mornings in summer. And just now, HOT off the press, I’m opening a shop in Apollo Bay at the end of April.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

As a professional horticulturist, I spent 12 months wwoofing right around Australia 20 years ago. I returned from that journey enriched and emboldened to begin my own farm and a gently sustainable way of living. I also Wwoofed in Cornwall, Wales and France just before Covid. I like to share stories, food and work towards a healthier community on our beautiful blue planet. I also like to learn from other farming cultures around the world. I welcome hard working people with real farm experience and those who are serious about gaining more knowledge and inspiration in their own organic journey. Keen to meet you if you have worked in an organic retail outlet.5087
