    Short Property Description

A Retrosuburbia guest house, share house and wellness retreat, where Japanese Culture and Permaculture mingle, with extraordinary resultsBe the honored guest of Permaculture Designer Cecilia Macaulay, and be part of a curated culture, where we create the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.  We are thoughtful sociable introverts, dedicated to making the most of our days, and you are invited to join us, our cat and cute urban chickens.  Our hobbies are diverse, including Japanese tea ceremony, 5 Rhythms dance, flexitarian cooking.  Behind us is the river and parklands, and we are linked to a community of houses where we share dinner parties, creative projects, and the cultivation of the human spirit.

    Full Property Description

Here is a video of WWOOFers in action at my last permaculture property. Lovely!

We are part of a beautifully-designed 70’s estate of human-scale homes, landscaped gardens, and a meandering creek. You might glimpse a kangaroo or sugar glider there. It’s an 8-minute walk through the bush-like park to Rosanna station and village, with its lovely cafes.  From there it’s a 50-minute scenic train ride to Melbourne Central.

I’ve just moved in, so the main project now is retrofitting the house so guests feel they are in a fairyland, where every action succeeds, with no obstacles. Projects include making the lighting enchanting, changing difficult doorknobs, re-planting the permaculture garden to create dappled light filtering through vines and trees we will plant, and bouncing off ponds we will create.

We will hold events for neighbors & friends, such as macrobiotic cooking classes, yoga, tea ceremony & permaculture design coaching.  Non-garden tasks include teaching yoga, costume design, film making and editing, writing magazine articles & helping me to get organized & on time.

    About you:
WWOOFers must be over 25, amazing, thoughtful, & generative.  Its so wonderful when WWOOFers see what needs doing themselves, and do it nicely, without direction from me. Accommodation is your own double room in the house. Couples most welcome.  We eat one or two meals together each day, you can make your own breakfast. Google me before you make contact, and tell me why you want to WWOOF here in particular. Then we can get aligned, chase the dream.  Mixed diet, vegetarians, and vegans catered for. No children. NSI.  Length of stay at least 1 week, extendable for months.

    Organic/Biological methods we use

Permaculture, and Japanese culture, including Masanobu Fukuoka.  We are fans of Elaine Ingham soil web, Macrobiotic, and Weston Price Nutrition.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

As a permaculture designer, I believe we can create the beautiful world we want to live in. We exist in relation to each other, and good human relationships can transform us from average to beautiful. I am my best self when I’m hosting and traveling, and WWOOFers make my dreams come true. Every street in the world should have a WWOOF host. I’ve been a WWOOF traveller for 30 years, and a host for twenty.

WWOOFing keeps me young and sparky, as life keeps surprising me.  Every relationship, every stay I host or have turns me into a new and better person. It shares my hard-won skills with great people, so I don’t have to save the world by myself, and my impact can go on, without me.
