Short Property Description
24 acres in Boolarra South–the heart of South Gippsland, VIC. Mostly paddocks but with rainforest and creeks on the trim–home to lyrebirds, deer, echidnas, wombats, wallabies, koalas etc. Visited by abundant gang gang cockatoos, black cockatoos, wedge tail eagles, king parrots etc. We’re at Ground 0 with the land. We purchased it to clean it up (clearing blackberry and weeds), so we can reforest a lot of it and rebuild the creek as a natural bio-corridor, as well as set up orchards and our family home. Like I said, we’re at Ground 0. My wife and I (36 years old) and our 2 yr old daughter live on the land in a yurt. We have a shipping container as a living room. We have a small goat rescue where we take older, unwanted goats and care for them, as well as take them out to use for clearing the blackberries. This is what WWOOF’rs would help with: looking after the goats and helping with weed removal. WWOOF’rs accommodation would be in a supplied tent. We’d make sure you’re comfortable but you need to be okay with camping and roughing it a bit.
Organic/Biological methods we use
No chemicals. Slashing and cutting with brush cutters. Bringing in goats to eat blackberry and other weeds.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
We purchased this land to not only clean it up and return it to natural forest, but also to share it with others. In the far future, we imagine running workshops out on the land. My wife is interested in kids craft and nature, bringing them together. We also want to set up orchards and have a few head of cows. For now though, we need help tackling weeds. We started our goat rescue for this reason; so we had a way of tackling the weeds without chemicals. Any help we can get to speed up the operation is obviously really helpful so volunteers became the next logical step.
