Short Property Description
The truffiere, an organic black truffle farm, is located in Araluen, an idyllic valley south of Braidwood. The valley has a rich Aboriginal and European history including being the centre for alluvial gold mining from the 1860’s.
The farm has. 2 hectares of mostly hazel trees inoculated with the black truffle (tuber melanosporum) with other plantings including acacia, fruit trees, white cedar and native trees. Four bee hives provide honey. The farm is operated on permaculture principles and a scientific understanding of the symbiotic relationship between the truffle and the tree. The owners are an environmental scientist/teacher and a founder of a social enterprise.
The house is large with three bedrooms, two bathrooms enabling privacy for our guests, It has all modern conveniences including wifi and telstra G4 but is off-grid. Ammenities include a 300,000L water storage for swimming.
The valley is peaceful and full of wildlife including kangaroos, echidnas, wombats and thousands of birds. Platypus are found nearby. Swimming in pristine rivers nearby is a real experience to be remembered.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
We need help but am drawn to teaching young people.
Our farm is underutilised as we have busy lives in Wollongong and Araluen and move between our homes. We can provide a safe, comfortable and interesting stay for young people or people of any age.
Our background as a teacher, researcher, farmer and as a community worker has given us the ability to give a lot in terms of learning and practical experiences.
As with any farm there is a lot to do, so we need help. We are committed to providing a safe home and working environment for our guests.
A relationship based on fair and reciprocal giving appeals to our values and way of life.
