I work as a teacher assistant in Perth. My kids are grown up and this year, I am looking for a different holiday experience during the school holidays.
My garden is my place where I can relax and get lost in time. I have a small veggie patch, some fruit trees, compost, worm farm, 4 chickens and 2 bee hives. 3 years ago I did a basic bee keeping course and am fully equiped if need bee.
This winter I have been involved with tree planting in my local wetland area. I certainly don’t mind getting my hands dirty. I really don’t care what work I do, I’ll have a go at anything that is presented to me and will do it at the best of my ability.
I own a small car, and it ain’t a 4-wheel drive.
Why I joined WWOOF
I am Dutch, I hold a permanent resident visa and I have lived in WA for over 25 years. I’ve seen a few tourist destinations, but I would really like a different holiday experience, other then visiting a place.
By volunteering my time, I can give a little bit back, while I gain new experiences. I’m interested in gardening in general, outdoor activities and environment stuff. I’d like to learn new skills, get a better insight how others live in rural Western Australia and meet like minded people with an alternative lifestyle.
