    Short Property Description

We are an Australian Indigenous community living on Larrakia country which is located around Darwin, Northern Territory. Currently we are looking to empower our community to become self sustainable with healthy food and hence we don’t have much of a set up just yet. In exchange for your work and skills we will teach you of our culture, Lore, Dreamtime stories (creation and other stories), Corroboree (meetings for sharing wisdom, politics dancing and singing), looking for bush tucker (food), how to survive on country, dances, songs, our language, art, basket weaving, hunting, fishing, bush medicine, how we live, our customs, our family systems and governance of the land including burning off, sustainability and taking only what we need. If you are a good fit then you can expect to be welcomed back to our land and community whenever you like.

We have sacred sites to visit and lore to share about them including a King Brown snake dreaming site, a site we used to make spears and axe heads and a site that tells of the migration of our people from the old world to the new.

In return we want you to bring your permaculture skills to come help us create garden beds, fruit forests, aquaponics, sustainable systems, houses, store houses, green house, cob buildings, permaculture design etc. We’d love to hear about any skills you may have to contribute to our community.

We have 3950 acres of land that we can use including a river that flows through the property and a billabong. We have a large range of wildlife that live on our land. We drink from clean bore water.

Eventually we’d like to cultivate a lot of native plants, foods and medicines on our land.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

To bring the Indigenous Larrakia culture and wisdom to the people and help empower our community to become self sustainable with healthy food. To empower us to strengthen our Larrakia culture through permaculture and nutrient food and in turn share our culture and ways with others who want to connect back to nature, spirit and themselves. To teach people about what bush tucker (food) we can eat and survive off the land. To teach about our dreaming (dreamtime/creation stories), governance of the land and people, customs, dances, language, art, hunting and fishing.
