Short Property Description
Our place is nine acres and we grow a large range of fruits, nuts, berries and vegetables under permaculture guidelines for our own use and to sell surplus at markets. Renee and Marilyn are semi-retired seniors. Our son also lives on the property and runs a bed and breakfast business in one of the dwellings. As we are 3 kilometres from the ocean the climate is mild and we grow temperate style plants. There are ocean views from the property. The nearest shops are about 12 kilometres from us. The situation is a rural area with our neighbours being dairy farmers, and beef and commercial vegetable growers
Organic/Biological methods we use
We use horse manure from next door, composted wood chips, sawdust for composting to enrich the soil.. We also have 3 worm farms in bathtubs. Cardboard is used to suppress weeds.
