    Short Property Description

We are a young couple rebuilding a small organic market garden on an intentional community. Green Shovel Farm is in recovery after being burnt out in the recent fires (YES THIS MEANS YOU CAN QUALIFY FOR 2ND/ 3RD YEAR VISA HERE!) and we were selling a good amount of produce at a local farmer’s market and to some friends and family.

We have a sheep and a goat, two horses, assorted ducks and chickens, and a toddler daughter. We live on an intentional community which is in its early years and growing well. The community is on 210 acres of amazing bushland, cliffs and rolling hills in the Nymboida village next to the Nymboida River (check out the white-water adventure stuff online!).

Pick up and drop off from Grafton or Coffs Harbour with prior notice.

    Organic/Biological methods we use

Green Shovel Farm has been running for around 2 years but is currently recovering from total destruction in bushfire… We are an organic property and the community strongly believes in chemical free farming and living. We are working towards getting the garden and regenerative grazing paddocks operational again.

Our market garden and other farming techniques are moving toward regenerative farming- that is, leaving the land better than when we started looking after it, and regenerating the areas reserved as wilderness. Our grazing animals are in rotational grazing systems that are rebuilding the soil and keeping parasite numbers down. We are using various techniques to increase the nutritive content of our vegies and to build soil health in the garden also.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

We loved being Wwofers on our travels. We want to barter work for accomodation and food and have travellers staying with us. We like to meet new people and share experiences and good times.
