Short Property Description
We live on 3/4 of an acre in the Perth Hills on a steep, north facing property. At the moment we have set up wicking beds and have started growing vegetables using permaculture and organic principles. We are considering building a chicken coop, an enclosure for quails, and are looking into keeping bees. We have about ten fruit trees and our plan is to plant an edible food forest on our property with mediterranean fruit and nut trees that will thrive in the Perth climate. We are also transforming our land with mulch and compost and planning to plant as many Australian water wise natives as we can and create an area that is a bush tucker garden.
We are in transition here, transforming the land into something sustainable, beautiful and productive for humans, animals and the pollinators.
Our garden is full of quendas, bees, lizards and birds already and as custodians here we only want to deepen and enhance the way we interact with the land and provide for it and it for us.
We are also interested in transforming two studio buildings into a writing/artist studio and a tiny house if anyone is handy and interested! We are on a solar battery here and try to be energy efficient.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
I was very interested in organic farming principles as a young person and became a vegan at age 12 as I was upset by factory farming methods and the treatment of animals. When I was 18 I started volunteering on organic farms in Quebec, where I am from originally.
I travelled to Ireland, New Zealand and Australia and did WWOOFing in all of these countries. It was an extraordinary experience and one I would now like to give back to other people. While we don’t live on a farm, our land still needs enormous amounts of custodianship and care.
We also have a ten year old son who is unschooled and tells us he would love to be a regenerative farmer (his favourite film is The Biggest Little Farm). We would love some help with our son sometimes and lots and lots of gardening help together. We include people here as family members and provide a super comfortable room with queen sized bed and private bathroom.
We enjoy cooking and making meals and eating together and are enriched by meeting people from around the world. My husband grew up all over the world as his dad used to be an Australian diplomat and I am originally from Canada and have lived in many countries, so we adore learning about and exchanging culturally.
