I have previously WWOOFed in France and always enjoy visiting my rural friends where days are often spent working alongside them on gardening and building projects.
I am currently considering options for moving to the country and find that you can't beat the experience of living in communities to learn more about them.
I joined WWOOF Australia to further develop my skills by being directly involved in regenerative agriculture and permaculture projects.

Skills I Want to Learn:
I would like to do a bit of wwoofing to give myself a base to explore from, meet new people, help out people that are doing great things and learn some stuff at the same time! As i am moving around a bit it is nice to stay in one area for a while with other people and it gives a better feel for an area.

"Namoorook" circa 1895, is a beautifully restored homestead on 71 acres of farm land approximately 1.5 kms from Leongatha and 130kms from Melbourne.
Adopting regenerative agricultural practices, Namoorook is a mixed farming operation with livestock, organic fruit orchard and vegetable gardens.
We hope it will become an example of how food and farming systems can use the power of nature to increase biodiversity, enrich the soil, capture carbon, improve watersheds enhancing the entire ecosystem.

I initially joined WWOOF so that I could leave Melbourne's Covid-19 lockdown and work towards a second working holiday visa. But since then, I have discovered that WWOOFing as an ethos and a way of life aligns very closely with many of my interests.
Australia is at the forefront of multiple environmental issues that will eventually impact the lives of all of us, so I think the education that WWOOFing can provide is invaluable - not to mention fascinating.

The seclusion & privacy of 1/4 acre in the heart of town with Australian birds & wild life a plenty. A relaxed family home, with a creek & bush reserve. Hot tub, Yoga spaces & wood fired oven. Our garden consists of fruit trees, Bush Tucker, herbs, veggies, worms, bees, chooks & ducks. Must love animals and have no allergies as we have indoor cats and our friendly Labrador, Dex.
We follow permaculture because we are passionate about self-reliance & futuresteading for future generations. We love growing, cooking, preserving, fermenting, medicine -making & brewing our home-grown & local produce. We have many permaculture systems in place & can show how these self-sufficient principles work in a 'normal' aussie house block in suburbia. Eg; composting, humanure, beekeeping, worm-farming, fertigation, swales, greywater, making seaweed fertiliser, wicking beds, driveway gardening, outdoor & indoor mushroom cultivation.... Other hobbies include weaving, bushwalking, surfing, music, craft, yoga, vintage cars & motorcycles, e-bikes.
Work includes general tending of home & garden maintenance, making compost, mulching, digging, weeding, herb & food preserving.... in flow with the day, season & moment. Accomodation for 2 in 'The Cottage', a private, self-contained 'tiny house' in our garden, with a Double bed, hot outdoor shower, composting toilet & camp kitchen. Some shared meals, mixed diet. 3-7 day stays.
Keith is Canadian (we met while he was backpacking in Oz in '89), Nicole is of Italian heritage. We have 3 grown children & a beautiful baby grand daughter who live around the corner & visit often. We are short walking distance (10mins) to Mollymook beach, Harbour & shops & a few minutes drive to Milton. We are very easy going & potter in the garden a few hours a day, leaving you plenty of time to explore the beautiful south coast. Theres also the option of time learning kitchen practices like fermenting, canning & pickling, growing mushrooms, weaving & sharing wisdom.

I would love to learn more about permaculture living in relation to Australian native plants, regenerative agriculture and urban/peri-urban food production. I'm keen to get stuck into a specific project or just to help with the day-to-day running of a farm/garden. I am also planning on building a tiny house in the next couple of years, so am keen to get some basic construction experience.

To learn from farmers and fellow WWOOFERS and to contribute to a worthy life purpose... growing food and caring for the land and its inhabitants.
I am now able to travel Australia wide, spending time on the land to understand this diverse environment. I have recently completed a number of farm sitting roles over the past two years, that primarily involved caring for farm animals and pets.

I'm wanting to really get solid in my gardening, growing and farming skills. My goal is to live with friends on land and grow food. My next step towards that is to upgrade my skills and the best way to do that is through experience. I have some practice and familiarity with gardening and looking after animals but there's lots i'm eager to learn and help with.
