The reason that I join Wwoof is to learn how to grow organic vegetables, including pest control, seed collection, irrigation, and all other process involved. I want to build a life style that I could be mostly self-sufficient, and also raise a few chickens ad other pets. I’m also interested in connecting with local farmers, not only to learn from them, but also to experience a different lifestyle. Now, I came to a realization that what work I choose to do, is what lifestyle I’m having. I choose to be close to nature and outdoor activities, and maybe one day will have my own veggie gardens. This is more attractive to me compared to computer work.
Skills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Gardening, Pruning, Propagating, Composting, Soil conservation, Biodynamics practices and techniques, Animal Care, Beekeeping, Building, Natural building methods, Cheese making, Preserving food, Wild food foraging, Fermenting food, Bread Making
It is a great chance to meet new people and learn about more sustainable and self-sufficient ways of living. Having lived in the suburbs of Sydney all my life, I’d like to learn how others live and explore Australia.
I found WWOOF before I came to Australia, this is a special organization that I really want to attend, because the main purpose of it is linking visitors with organic farms and growers to promote cultural and educational experience based on non-monetary exchange. I want to help the organic movement and make the environment getting better, learning new farming skills and helping others whenever they need.
