Short Property Description

Flinders Island Olives is an olive grove on Flinders Island Tasmania, Australia.

The grove is 3.5 ha with a little over 1000 olive trees. The olives are picked during April through to July and processed on site in an olive press on site, to create magnificent extra virgin olive oil.

The grove is next to Killiecrankie Bay and surrounded by paddocks of grass and native bush.

Part of the property contains a small campground with basic accommodation and camp sites for tourists and visitors.

Organic/Biological methods we use

I am an organic olive grower and processor. I am certified with NASAA (Cert no 7137).

I use the occasional sheep manure for fertilising my trees, mowing and slashing for weed control, occasional spraying of the trees for some pest control with allowable products.I am attempting to improve my mulch and composting techniques.

I pick the olives by hand or with a hand held rake.

I process the olives in an olive processing machine. Only Organic additives are allowed. These are only used occasionally if necessary depending on the water content and ripeness of the olives.

All cleaning is done with allowable products.
