Our farm is a mixed cropping, and grazing property set in a stunning valley in the foothills of the Richmond ranges National Park. We grow ginger, turmeric and garlic, along with vegetables, berries and a mixed fruit and nut orchard.
Our animals include a small Jersey dairy herd, a beef cow and five steers for meat. We also have five heritage breeding sows and two boars, and a few boys and girls destined for pork eventually and currently we have 14 piglets of various ages. In addition we have poultry, Pekin ducks for eggs and meat, a mixed flock of about 30 chickens that produce gorgeous eggs daily. Finally, we have 19 guinea fowl, noisy, messy and often down-right annoying, but they eat ticks and keep snakes away.
Other animals, we have two beautiful ginger cats for vermin control, mainly in the sheds, and a beautiful, loveable and majestic livestock guardian dog, a two- year-old Maremma, called Baci and an adorable Dixie puppy, called Dennis.

Day's Walk Farm is located just 22km from the Melbourne CBD and Melbourne International Airport by Car - it is a real Certified Organic suburban farm - though it's tucked away in a quieter part of the valley, where a cool river runs lined with red gums.
I grow mixed vegetables organically and I am also part of a team that grows young farmers - see farmerincubator.org I have been at this farm since March 2015 and farming is one step at a time - a lot of work! So I could do with a hand.
This is a great place for someone who enjoys working outside and cooking with a range of fresh farm produce. Work includes planting seedlings, weeding, whipper snipping, propagating, picking, some building projects and market garden work.
We are currently at our peak production of the year, so it's definitely an exciting time to come and experience summer on a pumping commercial market garden. Over the next month or two you can look forward to lots of planting, picking tomatoes and meditative weeding!
Accommodation is quite basic on the farm, in an old shed converted into an apartment or a cosy caravan. We use a bush bucket shower and compost toilet. The bus stop is a short walk up the hill, and using the bus and the train you can connect with Melbourne independently on your days off.
The internet is accessible via hotspot for emails, for big downloads though you will have to stroll down to one of the two local libraries. (We can't get broadband internet here in the valley, yet...)
I ask volunteers to work five days, taking two off. Work stops at lunch time, so the afternoons are free. However, there are also lots of books to read during your down-time, under the trees by the river. We recently bought a few board games too and we're currently installing a shed cinema and ceiling suspended day bed. I regularly get on the mat to do some yoga. Market garden work is quite physical so these activities help to balance life here.
Shared meals and cooking using fresh produce from the market garden, mixed diet. No children. No smoking inside. Initial stay 2 weeks, longer stays negotiable. Cannot take WWOOFers in the middle of winter.
If you aspire to be a farmer then this is good place to check out. Staying at Day's Walk Farm is certainly an adventure, not a picnic! Thanks ! ! !

My sister has been a WWOOFer for a few years and she is the one who really inspired me to experience the life of a WOOFer. I have always loved hearing about her travels and listening to her stories, and really wanted to experience that for myself.
My degree at uni has played a big role in my decision to become a WWOOFer. I have always preferred hands-on learning, and what better way to learn about sustainable living, than to live it myself and experience it with real life people, rather than reading a textbook!

I think WWOOF is a good way to make yourself useful and get to know about permaculture, local life, people and the country at the same time.
I got very much interested into permaculture during my first WWOOF stay and I would be happy to start my own veggie/fruit garden when I get back home.

We love nature and learning about plants and animals and it's a brilliant way to meet likeminded people and form connections with people all over the country! Being on the road all the time can also get quite tiring so we like to be able to stop in one place every now and then - even if it is to work!

Welcome to Athena's Garden. Although I am only 10 minutes to Townsville city centre - I am making an oasis on my acre of land so that it feels more remote. It is a short distance to see the koalas on Magnetic Island and the rainforest wonders nearby.

We live on a 2 hectare property with the young Angus river running through. We have organic gardens with fruit trees, all sorts of berries, vegetable garden with free-roaming bantams, big-layer hens, flower beds and lawns, as well as 2 goats on paddocks. I run a sustainable architecture & building consulting business from home. Help is always needed in the garden & paddock, picking berries & apples, looking after animals, weed control, making firewood, compost, cleaning up sheds & around the place, sometimes on a sustainable building site. We live 45min by car from Adelaide, 45min from safe swimming beaches & 45min from the surf, so we are pretty central. Accommodation for 2 in separate stone cottage & own room in the main building. All share in home cooked evening meal. Mixed diet. No smokers please. Longer stays (min 3 weeks) preferred after initial few days. Use of a car possible for the right person. Please contact us via email only.

I live here with my daughter(29) and my two grandsons (6 and 8). We are 15 minutes from the train to Melbourne which takes 1 hour.
Apart from the llamas we also have a small flock of sheep, chooks, emus and dogs. A beautiful garden and mudbrick house.

We used to have WWOOFers at my Grandma's farm growing up and I have always had the thought of doing it one day.
I would like somewhere I can set up camp in my tent and hopefully bring my dog with me (6 year old well Kelpie), and be around friendly people with a focus on bringing nothing but good energy into this world. I want to to learn about sustainable living, living off the land, and caring for the land.
I also want to share spiritual, cultural, and lifestyle experiences with others and build a deeper connection within myself and to The Earth.

To learn more about living sustainably, to explore Australia and to connect with like-minded people. We want to learn more about organic gardening. Ideally we’d love to volunteer for a family or community that also has children so that they can be together. We would like our children to be part of the activities and events .
Our family are looking to volunteer with likeminded, hardworking people who share a passion for mother nature, connection, family and traversing the ups and downs of life. We are ready to work ASAP and happy to stay on for a while if it works of all.

I joined WWOOF to stay active and busy during COVID times. I want to be productive and useful, with purpose.
I am a traveller in my own country and wish to help where I can and learn as much as I can.

I joined WWOOF to learn more about Australia while I travel and am out of work, to get out of the city, meet people and learn about regenerative agriculture and aquaculture.
I want to own a farm one day soon too! I am in between jobs, I have been a flood engineer for a number of years but do not align with the lifestyle, do not agree with the implemented solutions and have burnt myself out from working in a city office on jobs that impact rural areas without ever visiting the site.
I miss working with people and miss working on localised problems. I need a change and have always been drawn to agriculture due to my upbringing. WWOOFing for a while suits me.
