We decided to join WWOOF as a means for contributing towards the lives and livlihoods of farmers in rural communities. We are in a unique position where we can offer our time and skills and thereby hopefully instil a deeper love and respect for our country and its diverse environment in the hearts and hands of our sons.

We had long had in mind the fact of playing abroad, but we wanted an organization that reflected our convictions. So we discovered the Wooffing community which directly attracted us more and more. We wanted to go abroad without taking an expensive organization that doesn't necessarily have a purpose, unlike Wooffing. Being able to help people from other countries, to discover new cultures, to understand and learn new things and ways of life, completely fulfilled our idea of travel. We have always loved Australia, it is majestic landscapes, the wild animal and plant fauna, its different communities living side by side. Moreover, we did not want to be in an organization where we only learn the language of the country without necessarily understanding its culture and way of life, we wanted to be as close as possible to the people, understand how they live, better adapt to the customs of the country and really understand the place where we will live for a while. Finally, we did not want to arrive in a country, learn only the language, enjoy and leave without making ourselves useful. We really wanted to be there to help the community to be in an exchange of languages, customs and moments shared together in the respect and protection of our environment.

Skills I Want to Learn:
Having grown up in the Canary Islands in Spain, and having both recently qualified as teachers, we are now travelling through Australia together. We would like to WWOOF in order to experience the natural beauty of rural Australia. Furthermore, we have always wanted to work in a farm as we love animals and plants. Visiting our grandparents farms in our childhood has made a great impact in our lives, as one of our dreams is to have our own farm, in which we can have many animals and plants. Moreover, as teachers we are fast learners and enjoy learning new things. This is why we consider WWOOFing a great opportunity for us. We have had the pleasure to work at Mount Cotton Organic Fruit and Veg for 3 months where we have learnt lots of new things. Our favourite part is working with animals, we were able to hatch two batches of 20 chicks each which was a lovely experience. We also fed a baby cow, chickens, ducks and cows. The farm we worked on had a great variety of fruit and veg (macadamia, avocado, corn, shallots, radish ...) which we planted, weeded, collected and prepared for orders. We also worked with seedlings in a greenhouse and learnt how to mulch. It was a great experience and we can't wait to start farming again. Thank you for reading our profile and taking us into consideration. We are looking forward to meet you!
