City/Town: Kangaroo Island
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Caravan, Tent, BYO Accommodation
Nine Planets lies at the end of the Chapman River Sanctuary adjacent Lashmar's Lagoon Sanctuary and about 600 meters from Antechamber Bay, one of the largest, most pristine and undisturbed beaches on Kangaroo Island's coast. The Chapman River teams with bream and the beach is a sanctuary for endangered hooded plovers which nest in the sand just above the high water line in late spring. Garfish, tommies, flathead and mullet can be caught from the beach if you are adept at shore fishing. Lashmar's Lagoon is a sanctuary for waterbirds and teems with black swans, ducks, pelicans, sacred ibis and other birds. In winter and spring black swans grazing in pasture adjacent the lagoon outnumber farmers' sheep. Kangaroos, wallabies and goannas usually visit daily and dozens of bird species including magpies, currawongs, superb fairywrens, honeyeaters, thornbills, red browed finches and silver eyes call in for a drink and/or bath, whilst wedge tailed eagles and the very rare white bellied sea eagle may be seen soaring overhead. At night the calls of boobook owls can be heard in the distance. It is often windy, but rarely very hot or very cold.

Would you like to work with animals and plants, set up new systems and maintain existing systems on the farm and learn how to improve soil quality? Would you like to eat homegrown food, discover how to separate cream and make butter and preserve excess produce? Are you not afraid of hard work, keen to learn and easygoing? If so, volunteering with us may be for you!

City/Town: Lonnavale
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: Separate Building, Caravan, BYO Accommodation
Our 24 ha Certified Organic farm is located under the Snowy Range in the beautiful Huon Valley. We have a large productive farm, but our current main crop is a very productive blueberry orchard. Whilst we don't have much in the way of livestock, we do have a few chickens who require daily care & we also have a working sled dog kennel with 28 Siberian Huskies. The sled dog side of our farm is predominately operated during the winter months when it is cold enough for the dogs to run, but each day year round there are many jobs required that involve the dogs including feeding, cleaning yards, and assistance dog handling when we are conducting our eco tours.  We have purpose built trails on our property to run our tours, and we are often out exploring the natural bushland around our home so WWOOFers must have a genuine interest & love for dogs. Spare time activities include swimming, hiking, cycling, reading, baking & most importantly having a good time. A sense of humour is essential. Comfortable accom provided in caravans or BYO tents. No children. Mixed diet, NSI. Min stay 1 week, long stays encouraged. Can P/U in Huonville.

A rugged and wild property with 365 degree views of nothing but wilderness. Perched in on a ridge at about 300 and flanked by thousands of acres of national parks and state forest. It can be extreme, windy, dry, hot....yet also we a regularly flooded in by calamitous rains. The bird life here is literally off the scale, and the diversity of flora and topography something very special. I run a small plant propagation nursery and sales are predominatly made through various regional farmers markets and fairs. The property is also covered in food gardens and living plant collections.
