We live on a 52 acre (24 ha) rural property east of Canberra. We grow a large volume of vegetables and conduct equestrian training. We also have a few ostriches (left over from another enterprise), paddock and house dogs; honey bees; and rescued wild birds, mainly magpies. Our property is 4 km from the nearest public road; 13-15 minutes drive to the nearest small town where there are good facilities; and high by Australian standards (900 m above sea level). Our electricity comes from solar panels; our water from the sky; and heating from firewood from the property. We currently have landscape and small building projects in progress and access to commercial organic farming, pasture sustainability advice, and permaculture expertise. As well as work on the property, my wife and I run our own businesses from home. We are also both writers and involved in numerous community and family activities. We look forward to meeting enthusiastic young people and sharing new skills and knowledge with them.

We are a family owned 5,200 acre farm located in the beautiful Kerry Valley.  Our farm land is very diverse, from alluvial plains on the banks of the Albert River to our own hidden valley with panoramic scenic vistas (which our region is famous for). We are conveniently located, with less than 10 minute drive from the township of Beaudesert.  We are also just over an hours drive to Brisbane and the world famous tourist mecca; Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. The farm is home to Goshu Wagyu; an elite breeding and genetic supplier of Tajima cattle (Japanese Breed) for the domestic and international market.   We also produce our own crops for supplementary cattle feed. On the farm we also have organic bee keeping and our own honey extraction and bottling plant for our honey products. Our nearby sister family farm is a thoroughbred race horse training and spelling facility. Hence unlike most farms where the focus is just one type of farming, we can offer you a truly diverse experience!

We are a historic homestead dating back to 1865 in Lilydale. We are on 65 acres and have a hobby farm which includes 6 cattle, 14 sheep, 4 goats, 2 horses, chickens, dogs and cats.  We have a veggie garden, fruit trees, paddocks and grounds that need maintaining. We have a comfortable two bedroom cottage for Woofers. We are a busy family with four children and it would be great to have assistance around the property. There is a bus stop at the end of our driveway to the nearby town of Lilydale (2km), with busses and trains to melbourne- under 1 hour.

City/Town: Seymour
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Caravan, Tent, BYO Accommodation
Right on the banks of the beautiful Goulburn River we operate a 4(ish) acre organic vegetable farm providing produce to Melbourne and our local community through farmers markets and direct sales to our region’s best restaurants.  We grow a wide variety of beautiful and seasonal heirloom vegetables. We love what we do, work hard and eat really well. Our farm is a great place to experience farming and learn about food growing.  We are passionate about organic farming and are always improving our practices and sharing the things we have learnt. Everyday work varies greatly but includes planting, harvesting, weeding, seeding and attending markets. We host WWOOFers from all over the world and are always grateful for their enthusiasm, hard work and the opportunity to share cultures and experiences. Accommodation is mostly in the farmhouse but if the house is full we can accommodate people in the caravan (or your own tent/yurt/swag if you are feeling super outdoorsy). Ideally WWOOFers will stay for at least 1 week (some stay much longer.). We eat mainly vegetables from the farm and produce from other farmers. We love to cook and eat and share cooking and cleaning on a rotational roster. The house has fast nbn wifi and other mod cons like electricity. We have chickens and a very fancy rooster. The farm is right on the river within a larger winery property. The river is beautiful with great spots to swim, walk and explore. There are many trees and habitat for lots of wildlife including heaps of native birds and even the occasional koala. We are right on the edge of Seymour town and are easily reached by train from Melbourne. Looking forward to meeting you.

S: A project I’m immersed in is focused on food waste landfill diversion, and its making me miss my farm days. My rural property in Flowerdale is a bit limited and I’m running out of projects there, so I’d love to get back into farm life and agricultural production. J: I used to WWOOF solo 12 years ago and had a blast, met some incredible people in amazing places. Always had the intention to do it again, and the kids are finally older and ready!
