It was an exciting time in an impressive country we made many valuable acquaintances while there. Many years later, we would now like to share the positive experience with our kids and introduce them to Australia’s nature and the Aussie lifestyle. We are a hands-on young family, and we love skilled manual work. My wife and I, we both grew up in a working-class-family. For our work-life-balance, we spend a lot of time in our own forest or on our neighbour’s farm. We would enjoy having a break from our daily life in office and spend some quality time with hands-on physical work for/with you. Furthermore, improving our English will be a positive side effect of joining WWOOF. Especially for our kids who started studying English at school last summer. Joining WWOOF gives us the unique opportunity to combine both our favourite work activities and making a wonderful and exciting experience as a family Down-Under and in nature. We met in New Zealand about 11 years ago and speak English with each other. We have been living in Australia for the past 10-ish years. We left our house in Walloon early April 2022 and have stored our belongings and tools in a small shipping container. We are now slowly traveling Australia in search for a new place to live. Our goal in this new place is to purchase land and setup our own homestead. On the way we would like to gain experience from other people that have established farms/homesteads. In order to do so, I am looking for a room in a host family. In return, I am committed to be available to feed animals, to clean their box or to make gardening, babysitting or cooking, do shopping etc. I love manuels labor and take care of animals (I have 2goats, 1horse 1rabbit and 2 cats in my parent's house). I have done a lot of gargening work in my life so hard work does not bother me. I do love nature and like to work in the wild to open my mind and find peace! I'm eager to learn about horses, snakes (although those two arn't the best combo), Australian survival skills, regenerative farming and all sorts of life learning lessons (including crazy card games). I hope the experience will give me guidance in knowing where to put my energies in terms of my future work. I’m also excited to meet new people and be welcomed into someone else’s home. To experience life outside my nuclear family, to see how others live, to appreciate new habits, models and lifestyles that will broaden my horizons and my understanding of what is possible for me at this point in my life. Obviously, our plans have been upset a little in recent times and we are reconsidering our options. I started a permaculture course a couple of years ago with Geoff Lawton and have visited Zaytuna Farm for open days twice. I haven't yet completed my Permaculture Design Course, partly because of work commitments, but would really love to get it finished one day. Our intention now is to see some more of Queensland at least, maybe further afield even while learning more skills that we can implement on our farm, when and if we are able to travel to Philippines again. We are still currently working in Brisbane but I decided to join WWOOF to keep my options open in these crazy times. Our current plan would be to start travelling early in 2022. We are both looking forward to meeting like minded fellow Permies to learn as much as we can. We are both hard workers (although I have a few extra kilos to work off after sitting at a desk for too many years, so the first couple of weeks may be tough for me :-)) and I'm sure we can bring a range of skills that would benfit your situation.
