Hi all, we're Will and Bess, a young couple running a sustainable timber farm in Far North Qld. We're in our late 20's and love hosting WWOOFERs on our jaw droopingly beautiful patch of rainforest in Far North Queensland. We're located 1.5 hours from Cairns (to the south west). We're BUILDING an eco-home at the moment and seeking assistance! See below 🙂 In terms of days and hours we’re really flexible depending on what suits you. We love to be social, cook, hang out and go bush walking and there’s always different friends visiting and coming up so it’s not all work and no play I assure you! We usually work Mon - Fri but it is really variable.

A couple friends from college did WWOOF and raved about their experiences. I've always wanted to try it but never had the opportunity until now. I'm excited to learn some new job skills, build some relationships and see the world.

It is a very great opportunity to get an idea of how people live and work in Australia. We don't get enough of spending time in the nature. Getting to know how our food is produced is very important for us.

I have always been a huge fan of food but didn't learn to appreciate it as much until I arrive to Scandinavia when all the food I used to get so easily become a rare gain. I grew up as a city girl but I\'ve always had a love for nature. And for the reason of food, I'd love to spend some time at the farm to learn everything that a farm needs to put effort in to supply the world. And learn to appreciate it all even more!

Skills I Want to Learn:
For us WWoofing is the best way to exchange with people, our culture and to share experience. We would like to discover or improve new skills. We like the fact to be with Australian people because of the immersion in the culture and to be with other origins to discover new horizons. And obviously, to improve our english and our Australian accent 😉

I joined WWOOF through American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) and I am interested in learning about life on Australian organic and permaculture farms and learning about growing and producing organically. I am hard working and willing to learn.

We joined to learn new skills ranging from the general to the more obscure and to experience different parts of Australia. Neither of us have really explored the country apart from occasional camping trips to the Flinders ranges and parts of SA. We w0uld also like to take this opportunity to find our dream location to settle down and hopefully be wwoof hosts ourselves oneday.

My experience working in restaurants that utilize local, organic food systems has shaped my own lifestyle and consumption to reflect that same mission. I think it's important to understand where food comes from and I get extremely excited when I'm able to either grow my own produce or buy it from a local farm at the Co-Op. I want to experience this side of things and build on my general knowledge of horticulture to become a more well-rounded chef and consumer.
