Sam (37) Clara (31) and Reilly (1.5) here. While Reilly was just a twinkle our eyes, Clara and I spent 4.5 years travelling Australia in our awesome veggie oil-powered Landcruiser, searching for the most beautiful spots to set up camp and call home for a week or two. After our first 3 month tour of Tasmania, we just fell in love with the place, returning every summer for more of the same. Somehow we just knew we'd end up here. As we travelled, we gained a real appreciation for simple living and developed a taste for the best organic local food sourced from farmers markets as we went. This just helped fuel the dream of a beautiful camp to set up in permanently, and do our best at living a low impact, natural, self-sufficient, homesteading lifestyle. When 6 months pregnant, out of the blue, the bank of Dad called up and offered a loan to help make our dream come true. And we‘ve always dreamed big. Nathan James Last Active: active 2 days, 5 hours ago Age: 26-35ViewGender: MaleSkills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Biodynamics practices and techniquesI joined WWOOF to travel, meet new people, get some ideas for my own dream garden/ property and to have some life experiences. I have travelled lots over seas (Asia, India, Europe, Africa, Middle East) and that was amazing, but I am keen to see what my own country has to offer. I am starting to think about settling down and would like to get some ideas about my own home/ garden/ property. I am not really sure where I want to settle down yet, so I am keen to travel around and maybe find a corner of Australia that I really connect with. I also really enjoy exploring new environments and am looking forward to discovering some hidden gems around Australia (I have my mountain bike and surf board with me!). I am happy to do anything as long as there is plenty of fresh air and sunshine. I like the idea of WWOOFing because being into organic gardening already tells me I will probably meet some like minded people who are on a similar wavelength, which I am looking forward to. It seems a great way to see some more of the country while not breaking the bank while doing so Nicholas Morlet Last Active: active 4 days, 4 hours ago Age: 21-25ViewGender: MaleSkills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Gardening, Pruning, Propagating, Composting, Soil conservation, Biodynamics practices and techniques, Mulching, Beekeeping, Natural building methods, Preserving food, Wild food foraging, Fermenting food, Wine makingIn short, to serve the national organic community, make friends and gain valuable experience on some beautiful patches of dirt! Foremost I want to give my all and really contribute the spots I'm lucky enough to land on, because to be able to support our organic farmers nationwide first-hand is the best reward. To travel isn't an easy decision for me to make, as I've laid down roots in Margs in activist and organic vineyard communities here, but to be able to commit myself to learning experiences elsewhere in Australia is a rare opportunity that I'm really grateful to WWOOF for. Coming onboard a fully realised organic operation would mean so much, as I've realised that to help run a sustainable, equitable social enterprise in my local community is definitely my career goal, beyond any status or bottom line. Also, just keen for a fun time with some likeminded folks!
