Share Island hospitality with a cool guy (me!), my famous dog Mundi and my 3 legged cat in the beautiful seaside village of American River where kangaroos and emus live behind my solar¬assisted property. Kangaroo Island lies off the mainland of South Australia, southwest of Adelaide. Over a third of the island is protected in nature reserves, home to native wildlife like sea lions, koalas and diverse bird species. In the west, Flinders Chase National Park is known for penguin colonies and striking coastal rock formations, like the sculpted Remarkable Rocks and the stalactite-covered Admirals Arch. My aim is to provide a relaxed and fun environment where company is more important than work; learn about landscaping, small gardening, minor building projects and use of tools in a workshop, and general chores. I offer 2 guest bedrooms, pool, BBQ, gym, bike, kayaks, boogie boards (surf nearby), walks, yachting, community activities. Mixed diet. NSI. Minimum 1 week stay. BYO humour. What to do on Kanagroo Island: https://southaustralia.com/places-to-go/kangaroo-island/things-to-do How long is the ferry ride from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island? SeaLink operates two large, modern vehicle and passenger ferries, SeaLion 2000 and Spirit of Kangaroo Island, with the journey taking just 45 minutes for the 16km crossing.

I've been engaged with the reality of climate change for quite some time, having been active in the UK grassroots climate activism scene over 10 years ago. More recently, I've become increasingly aware of the role that the food system plays in this problem, and I want to be supporting models which are caring for the land and strengthening biodiversity. So far, my learning has mostly been through reading books such as Call of the Reed Warbler, Farming Democracy and RetroSuburbia. I am now keen to gain some practical experience and develop my skills. This is partly driven by the fact that I have been questioning my career as a software developer, so I want to explore other options, and/or see how I can align my existing skills with these other interests.

We live on a third of an acre in the centre of the city and are building a sustainable organic garden that I hope will provide food to women’s refuges within the city. at present we have a large vegetable garden, a fish pond and a reasonable sized orchard with apricots, plums and lemons. my aim is to harvest and preserve everything we can grow to provide food for our family, women’s refuges in the city and donate as much as we can to the local thrift shop where I volunteer. we don’t get the kind of world we want to live in by wishing it so we get there by kindness. By helping one person actively at a time we begin to be the change we want to see. I’ve  never used chemical in this garden. we use our compost bins and worm farms and weed by hand!

I live in suburban Adelaide but am at present restructuring my garden and home to be off grid and self sustaining. My house was built only ten years ago,is 1min to the bus stop and 3mins to the shopping centre. It’s very peaceful but so close to the city if you are interested in exploring what SA has to offer. I recently injured my back so along with spring planting I would need some help shopping and cooking . I love art, books, gardening and movies but enjoy being out in nature the most .i have a fire pit and My car is available for use . I also have unlimited internet . If you are wishing to spend some time in beautiful Adelaide please contact me for pics and I’d be happy to answer any quiries you may have 😊

Kate is a retired vigneron and consultant. We are both creative - painting, mosaic work, music etc. We have very friendly dogs.  I'm renovating and developing a garden and landscaping (including a pergola) at a large old house in Stawell, next to the Grampians. If you are a couple interested in helping with this one to three weeks then let me know. Campervan friendly. The house is historic and there is often painting, simple repairs to the house and much work to be done in the garden depending on the time of year. There is also a cellar so I try to make preserves if I can be there to catch the fruit etc. So far I've planted nuts, various fruit, many herbs and borders for beneficial insects, birds and bees. Stawell is famous for it's gold history and the gold mine still operates. The country surrounding is wooded farm lands, the Grampians with their hiking and climbing and many other natural attractions. Stawell is also on the main road west to Adelaide so our stop really suits if you are driving around Australia. Great for garden, landscaping and walks lovers.

I am an urban beekeeper with hives across Sydney. I live in Castlecrag, a suburb 15mins from the CBD but backing onto bush. I have approximately 20 hives at home and about 70 other hives around Sydney. The work involves lots of manual labour and heavy lifting as well as the opportunity to learn about bees and beekeeping. It is essential that the WWOOFer is not allergic to bees. The accomodation is in a house which is a new architecturally designed solar passive house perched on top of a cliff. As a result of the build there is also landscape remedial work to do including building gabions and designing and planting a good forest and veggie garden.

Near funky Fremantle, and the beach, Pinakarri is an intentional community of 20 friendly adults & 3 kids living in colourful passive-solar houses set in shared gardens surrounding a large common house. We eat together 2 nights a week, around the fire & sometimes play music or hang out together in our leafy gardens. There are several musicians in Pinakarri as well as a piano and guitar for you to play. Walking distance to South beach, close to shops and bus to Freo, bikes are provided too. Pinkarri supports & applies sustainable principles such as extensive grey-water & rainwater systems, including irrigation to the communal and productive gardens, vegetable patch & fruit trees. Work for 2 hours a day: gardening, composting, weeding, cleaning common rooms, or helping prepare a shared meal. You'll stay in the lovely common-house where there is a guest room, dining room, bathroom, internet, b.b.q and a kitchen where you can prepare most of your own meals. You are staying in the community house, and all community members have their own individual houses. This means that although we do love to hang out together and we are a friendly mob, most of us work outside the community, and have busy lives. Staying at Pinakarri you might be & work quite a lot of time by yourself, so you do have to be a self-starter and a person that is o.k living & working alone. Pinakarri welcomes adults, couples, 2 friends, 1 child OK .  We prefer hosting people long term so we can get to know you and you us! But let's try one week first..
