The seclusion & privacy of 1/4 acre in the heart of town with Australian birds & wild life a plenty. A relaxed family home, with a creek & bush reserve. Hot tub, Yoga spaces & wood fired oven. Our garden consists of fruit trees, Bush Tucker, herbs, veggies, worms, bees, chooks & ducks. Must love animals and have no allergies as we have indoor cats and our friendly Labrador, Dex. We follow permaculture because we are passionate about self-reliance & futuresteading for future generations. We love growing, cooking, preserving, fermenting, medicine -making & brewing our home-grown & local produce. We have many permaculture systems in place & can show how these self-sufficient principles work in a 'normal' aussie house block in suburbia. Eg; composting, humanure, beekeeping, worm-farming, fertigation, swales, greywater, making seaweed fertiliser, wicking beds, driveway gardening, outdoor & indoor mushroom cultivation.... Other hobbies include weaving, bushwalking, surfing, music, craft, yoga, vintage cars & motorcycles, e-bikes. Work includes general tending of home & garden maintenance, making compost, mulching, digging, weeding, herb & food preserving.... in flow with the day, season & moment.  Accomodation for 2 in 'The Cottage', a private, self-contained 'tiny house' in our garden, with a Double bed, hot outdoor shower, composting toilet & camp kitchen. Some shared meals, mixed diet. 3-7 day stays. Keith is Canadian (we met while he was backpacking in Oz in '89), Nicole is of Italian heritage. We have 3 grown children & a beautiful baby grand daughter who live around the corner & visit often.  We are short walking distance (10mins) to Mollymook beach, Harbour & shops & a few minutes drive to Milton. We are very easy going & potter in the garden a few hours a day,  leaving you plenty of time to explore the beautiful south coast. Theres also the option of time learning kitchen practices like fermenting, canning & pickling, growing mushrooms, weaving & sharing wisdom.

2 acres in tiny town being slowly converted from old grazing land into a bountiful and beautiful food production garden. Animals include milking goats and rabbits, with ducks, chooks and bees on the way. That’s the goats that get milked, not the rabbits! I am learning about permaculture and soil rehabilitation as I go so it is a work in progress and I am open to suggestions. I have an excellent reference library pertaining to food production, preservation, and animal husbandry. The property is a half hour drive from the nearest largish town and as such is pretty isolated despite being on the outskirts of the village. There are plenty of interesting places to visit locally for hiking or climbing. The veggie garden is always being expanded as fast as I can create proper soil conditions for growth. I am an easy going relatively laid back middle aged retired female looking to keep creating something beautiful and practical and I find that I need a set of strong young legs to assist in my goals of a sustainable micro farm. I am really interested in composting techniques and my hope is to leave the land better than I found it for future generations to enjoy. I have German shepherd dogs and they are inside/outside dogs so any visitors must be comfortable with large slobbery hounds underfoot. According to my son I am not the best cook so be warned. However, I believe that opinion to based on his city habits of ordering in from a variety of home delivery services available in Melbourne so I can see how my cooking would be boring in that light.  I am proficient enough in nutritious foods like lentils, curry (I love curries!) seasonal veggie soups with home made spiced chicken broth, spag bowl and various stir fry vegetable dishes.  And omelettes.  Seasonal organic food will be available from the garden and I like to experiment with what I produce. Sometimes meal times can be a bit weird but what’s life without a bit of challenge! You are more than welcome to teach me your favourite dishes. Hopefully the local markets will reopen soon in regional Victoria so I can access supplemental fresh farm produce again.

We are an organic berry farm located in the central highlands of Victoria, just 5 minutes from Daylesford. The farm is 25 acres in total with only 5 acres under intense management for either production or living. The rest of the farm is being left to regenerate naturally back to bushland with some help with weed management from us. Our farm is open to the public throughout the strawberry season for U-pick and we have plans for further expansion that we would love some help with. You will certainly eat your fair share of berries while you are here, fresh, frozen or otherwise We are a family who regards every day as a school day and are always looking for new and better ways of doing things. We are also passionate about what we do and would love to share knowledge with people who come to stay with us.

Hello this Kate and Big Al here.  We are happy to welcome you. Lake Cootharaba retreat, our suburban Permaculture garden and retreat is situated in Boreen Point, a small village surrounded by the beautiful biosphere region of Cooloola National Park, on the shores of the stunning Lake Cootharaba and 1/2 hr from Noosa.  Our garden has evolved organically over the years according to  permaculture principles and ethics. A bohemian place with little nooks and grannies for reflection and relaxing. The garden is to be redesigned as a Permaculture teaching space. We also moved a small house onto a three acre rural property in Pomona, 20 minutes from Boreen Point two years ago. Half the property and the gardens around the newly established house are to be incorporated into a Permaculture design. So there is lots to learn and share and we are really open to learning too. With challenges due to Covid and difficulties with accomodation for many people we are open to longer stays and  possibilities to earn extra income in the neighbourhood or on the property. We have a few types of accomodation to choose from. Hoping to hear from you. Best wishes Kate and Al.
