We choose to join WWOOF to experiment the whole package of living abroad. With this community, we can work and live with the hosts which will help us to know more about this culture and to practice english language. Joining the WWOOF community is also the safest way to travel with advices from people who already experienced some places and hosts. This platform also gave us the occasion to properly present ourselves and let the host get to know more about our personality and our goal. Finally, this community gives us the occasion to see and visit different places such as farms, ranchs and experience a variety of tasks and locations. We are so excited by this journey and are eager to discover with who and where our first stop will be ! We hope to to visit several places during our two month of traveling along the East Cost of Australia. We hope you give us a warm welcome and get curious about us as we are about this journey.

City/Town: Omeo
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: Separate Building
High Valley Garden Pty Ltd - pesticide free property growing 180 varieties of vegetables and 82 varieties of fruit for own use and local sales in the Omeo, Vic region. The property is off grid, relying on solar and rainwater catchment. My wife and I take pride in growing almost all our own food throughout the year (with the exception of ice-cream and chocolate) and enjoy the mountains in which our little hobby farm is nestled in. We love cycling, running and bush walking and a vegetarian diet of super healthy organic food, picked fresh each meal. In our spare time we work for a non-profit helping survivors of human trafficking, as well as some gardening odd jobs around the area.

I've joined WWOOF mostly to gain more knowledge about farming and to meet people I can learn from. I'm very excited about my big adventure and have been travelling quite a bit before in my life and it's not always easy. But from this experience I've learned that some people you meet on the way might become your closest friends and that's what makes it all worth it. I hope to start my own little self-sustainable community one day and pass on the information and things I've learned from the people I've met working on farms

I have wanted to try WWOOFing, and feel that it is the right time in my life for such an experience. I would like to meet and learn from people who have an orientation towards organic living and general self-sufficiency. I would like to learn skills in organic living, food production, botanicals, bush skills, foraging, regeneration and creating healthy environments.

We are going to travel to Australia next week, so we are ready to discover the country, to meet some locals and see how is the life over there. We think that the idea of WWOOF is a wonderful way to travel, meet the locals, learn abut sustainability and exchange some ideas who might be useful for others and for us.

I needed a break from my studies, so I'm doing a gap year. During this year, I want to travel, discover new places, different ways of living and meeting people all around the world. Some friends told me about WWOOFing, I instantly loved the idea and wanted to participate, so now that I have my visa, I'm joining WWOOFers! I used to have a garden, and grow a lot of different fruits and vegetables but I had to move and now I'm in an apartment in a city, so I really miss gardening and the way I lived when I was in campaign, I'd be more than happy to help and work with organic farmers.

Our community consists of a group of 10 to 15 volunteers and paid workers, along with a host of beautiful and much-loved farm animals and wildlife. We aim to embody the permaculture principle of “we are nature working” and develop a deep understanding and respect for the land we steward, all the time aiming to regenerate the earth and learn from her and each other.

Hi there lovely WWOOFers! Sam (37) Clara (31) and Reilly (1.5) here. While Reilly was just a twinkle our eyes, Clara and I spent 4.5 years travelling Australia in our awesome veggie oil-powered Landcruiser, searching for the most beautiful spots to set up camp and call home for a week or two. After our first 3 month tour of Tasmania, we just fell in love with the place, returning every summer for more of the same. Somehow we just knew we'd end up here. As we travelled, we gained a real appreciation for simple living and developed a taste for the best organic local food sourced from farmers markets as we went. This just helped fuel the dream of a beautiful camp to set up in permanently, and do our best at living a low impact, natural, self-sufficient, homesteading lifestyle. When 6 months pregnant, out of the blue, the bank of Dad called up and offered a loan to help make our dream come true. And we‘ve always dreamed big.

I would call myself an urban hermit since the pandemic changed my lifestyle. I was questioning about the matter of life during the dayssssssss and I realised the importance of caring for and protecting our planet. As a living, this is my responsibility to pick up those ambitions for our future generation. But sometimes, I feel hopeless and discouraged about our planet's dilemma, especially since I have been living in booming cities since I grew up. Luckily, I found WWOOF, which provides a golden opportunity for youngers to learn from those experts in sustainable living, to experience another way to live, and to explore another perspective of looking at the world. I can't wait to start my 49 days nomadic adventure, as being a shepherd is one of my childhood dreams. This is also a secret reason for me to study in Australia that I did not tell my aggressive parents. I feel relaxed and released when I immerse in nature - the greatest architecture in the world ever.

I have joined WWOOF to explore and learn. I love to travel and help people so I am hoping this will be a way of doing both in times that suit me. I have recently spent 3 weeks volunteering on a Farm Stay and enjoyed the lifestyle and changes in routine. I would like to learn more about organic farming, living off grid and working with animals

To learn and experience nature. To extend my skills and connect with like minded people who pursue health and cohesion in spirit. WWOOF presents a great opportunity to learn many facets of bushcare/garden work/growing veggies and fruit, with a wide array of locations. It is also unique in that it is contemporary peer to peer, where mutual cooperation is favoured over exploitation, and this creates an atmosphere of greater harmony and spiritual aspiration. Also the aspect of travel is fantastic.
