City/Town: Waurn Ponds
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home
We have a five acre hobby farm that is half veggies and fruit trees and chooks that supplies a sustainable cafe in Geelong. We are pretty much self sustained by our produce. The only meat we eat is the chooks we grow. We get the veges for dinner from the garden each day. But the thing that defines us I think is how we are set up to entertain young children. Three separate playgrounds, indoor pool, tennis court and animals to hand feed. The back of our large home is self contained. Basically we are happy grandparents that would like to share our wonderful home with other families as we are so lucky to be here. Our garden is our passion so we are more likely to be comfortable sharing our knowledge than giving too much of our garden jobs to someone else.

They enjoy farm activities like milking the cow, riding a horse, making a fishing rod to go fishing and many farm skills. I need people to help with this program. WWOOFers usually delight in the Wide range of Experiences Gained from Living and Learning on this 1200 Acre Mixed Farm. The Original Working Farm is now a Tourist Farm as Well.

Right on the banks of the beautiful Goulburn River we operate a 4(ish) acre organic vegetable farm providing produce to Melbourne and our local community through farmers markets and direct sales to our region’s best restaurants. We grow a wide variety of beautiful and seasonal heirloom vegetables. We love what we do, work hard and eat really well. Our farm is a great place to experience farming and learn about food growing.  We are passionate about organic farming and are always improving our practices and sharing the things we have learnt. Everyday volunteering varies greatly but includes planting, harvesting, weeding, seeding and attending markets. We host WWOOFers from all over the world and are always grateful for their enthusiasm, hard work and the opportunity to share cultures and experiences. Accommodation is mostly in the farmhouse but if the house is full we can accommodate people in the caravan (or your own tent/yurt/swag if you are feeling super outdoorsy). Ideally WWOOFers will stay for at least 1 week (some stay much longer.). We eat mainly vegetables from the farm and produce from other farmers. We love to cook and eat and share cooking and cleaning on a rotational roster. The house has fast nbn wifi and other mod cons like electricity. We have chickens and a very fancy rooster. The farm is right on the river within a larger winery property. The river is beautiful with great spots to swim, walk and explore. There are many trees and habitat for lots of wildlife including heaps of native birds and even the occasional koala. We are right on the edge of Seymour town and are easily reached by train from Melbourne. Looking forward to meeting you.
