We have a beautiful 40 acre horse agistment property, veggie garden & fruit trees and approx. 5 acres bush. 3 min drive to surf beach, bay beach & Inverloch town or 10 min drive to Wonthaggi, a larger town. Push bikes available. We are very interested in living a sustainable lifestyle and hope that our wwoofers are also interested in living sustainably and learning, and sharing knowledge of this. There are almost always wallabies at our farm and if you are lucky you may see kangaroos, echidnas, wombats & occasional koalas. Work may include harvesting, food collection, composting, mulching, hay carting, weeding, fencing, planting, food preservation.  Sometimes there is some work caring for horses: often all the work is in the garden and paddock maintenance, as the horses are mainly looked after by their owners.  Accom for up to 3 in our home, although we usually prefer 2. Shared meals, cook together. We eat a healthy, sustainable diet.  Bron is vegan and while Ray eats everything, many meals are vegan or vegetarian.  Vegetarians & vegans catered for.  No children, no smoking, all stays negotiable on application. Please let us know your available dates when you apply and the length of time that you would like to wwoof here. (1 to 2 weeks preferred).

Palm Creek Plantation is located 45km south of Townsville on the Bruce Highway, at the base of Mt Elliot. We were the first commercial grower of the Achacha in the world, and remain by far the largest with 16,000 Achacha trees. we sell the Achacha fruit within Australia and overseas - to the UK, Germany, other European countries, Hong Kong and Canada. The Achacha fruit comes from the Amazon Basin in Bolivia. It is similar in size to the lychee, rambutan and mangosteen, but has only one third the sugar content of these other fruits. Taste experts describe it as "sweet, tangy, refreshing - like a sorbet". It has excellent health properties. Check achacha.com.au for full information on the fruit and its story. I have been a WWOOF Host since December 2013, my original Host number was QT291   Checkout a Blog WWOOF Australia completed on us: https://wwoof.com.au/what-is-achacha-fruit-wwoof-in-qld-and-find-out-today/

Our 11.5 hectare property, Mt Poverty (poor by name but rich in nature!) is 60km or 1hour, southwest of Cooktown in Far North Queensland. With an altitude of 600 metre above sea level our temperature is always several degrees cooler then the coast. Our property borders on the beautiful Wet Tropics Rainforest and dry open forests so we enjoy the best of both worlds with and abundance of wildlife, cool clean mountains streams and waterfalls ( and no crocodiles!). We have numerous fruit trees, flower and vegetable gardens with our main aim of self sufficiency, eco tourism and organic farming. We have no mobile phone coverage but do have a landline and internet, our power comes from solar and generator.

We are nestled on 100 acres of stunning bushland in the midst of the Wattagan forest of the Lower Hunter Valley, 1.5 hours from Sydney. There is a wide variety of wildlife including lyrebirds, wallabies, echidnas and wombats, blue and fairy wrens, kookaburras, satin bower birds, black and sulphur crested cockatoos.  We are growing tomatoes, pumpkins, zucchinis, mustard greens, rocket, kale, broccoli, carrots, beans (all types), herbs (all types), citrus, and many other fruits and vegetables. We are in the process of developing a master plan for our property, having moved here in August 2018. We will be increasing the number of fruit trees, are continually expanding the vegetable gardens, and enjoy fresh eggs with our 9 chickens and 2 roosters (father and son). The property is situated on the crest of a hill, with a beautiful area for camping and meandering in the valley by a natural brook, and another area at the top for workshops and retreats which we plan to establish or host. Keith has a background in ag science and biotech start-ups (after a first career as a university professor); Brynnie has been growing not-for-profit organisations in the sustainability, health, digital media with Indigenous communities, and social justice space (after a first career in international corporate law) and has studied Zen Shiatsu. Keith has lived in Germany and Brynnie is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese (having lived in Brazil) and gets by in French. Our children are in their early 20s, in university, and Keith also has older children and young grandchildren. We moved to this property in 2018 after having lived in Sydney for more than 25 years.
