To learn from farmers and fellow WWOOFERS and to contribute to a worthy life purpose... growing food and caring for the land and its inhabitants. I am now able to travel Australia wide, spending time on the land to understand this diverse environment. I have recently completed a number of farm sitting roles over the past two years, that primarily involved caring for farm animals and pets.

To learn farming skills. I’m a chartered accountant and have lived in cities my whole life (well up to 7 months ago). WWOOF is a great way for me to learn organic farming skills whilst helping hosts on their properties.

I'm very excited for the opportunity to spend time in nature and connect with people. I am keen to be involved in hands-on work, to support others to build and maintain their sustainable living practices, while learning along the way. Overall, I hope wwoofing will be an inspiring and energising experience.

I am going to be travelling around Australia by myself and want to connect with like-minded people and learn as much as possible along the way. I learn best through hands-on experience so I thought this would be a good way to learn while helping people along the way.

I have decided to start up WWOOFing so that I can gain the practical skills and experience to solidify the knowledge from my degree in regen ag, while being able to help busy land managers at the same time.

Skills I Want to Learn:
I really stumbled across WWOOF on my own as I was looking for volunteer/short term working experiences on farms across Australia. My brother and a few close friends are currently road tripping around Australia and I heard they were picking up work and cool experiences as they went. Naturally I went googling as that sounded so great and I was tied to Brisbane for the short term. I checked with a friend who had heard good things so decided I should sign up! I plan to spend 1-2 months (around December, January and February) similarly travelling and as mentioned above, trying out the farming lifestyle.

I was supposed to open a catering business in June. However, COVID really stopped me and my plans in our track and everything I had has slowly dwindled. I’m just starting again.

I would love to get back to nature and community, and would love the opportunity to work closely with the growing and sourcing of food. I find it so fulfilling to be in touch with nature and live with likeminded people in a community. I am intrigued by the growing of fruits and vegetables and would like to be able to grow for myself one day as I aspire to be mostly raw vegan. I love spending as much time as I can outdoors, and work that is physical. I would like to find purpose and meaningful engagement with the world through WWOOFing. I believe in the healing powers of nature and experiential learning and living.

I joined WWOOF so that I would have an opportunity to learn more about organic methods of growing produce. I want to meet like minded people. I want to have the opportunity to live in a rural environment with other people who are committed to organic produce.

I was a host on a 10 acre rainforest and bushland property north of Mackay Qld for over 10 years. It was one of the most wonderful, memorable experiences of my life. We got out of it as least as much as we put in - which was a LOT! We undertook a revegetation project, built a shack from mostly recycled materials, grew fruits, vegies and nuts organically and had an absolutely fantastic experience with our WWOOFers. I always said I'd love to do it myself and now I am. I can cook, clean, garden, follow instructions, respect your privacy, play scrabble and appreciate your place, pets and projects as much as you do. I'm currently deepening my yoga practice after 25 years of being a more casual fan. I love a chat but I also appreciate my own space/peace and quiet. I am travelling in a compact 4WD motorhome and left Qld in February 2021. Some power or water or use of an inside bathroom or laundry is always appreciated. A little hut in the bush is always fun as I can spread out - but not too much! I do have a very cute, well behaved little dog but she has won hearts and changed opinions on dogs from one side of Australia to the other. Yes I realise that's a bit unusual. I've been doing a lot of house sitting and have great references to prove how housetrained and helpful we are. She is 10 years old and basically sleeps all day and night (in the moho). If you meet me or Daisy and don't think we are a good fit, we can just head on down the road. No worries! You won't be disappointed though. I love to learn and will be very happy to help you no matter how large or small the job. Plus I still have a lot of things I'd like to learn, so teach me and I'll really enjoy being a part of making YOUR dreams a reality. Having people in your home is a leap of faith and I've rarely been disappointed when the shoe was on the other foot. Give us a go.

Host QR035 Joan Derrick, Experience the genuine hospitality of inland Australia; so different from coastal Australia. Experience living surrounded by native wildlife in their natural habitat. I have hosted from 1998 to 2014, when I sold the nursery business I had. I have met many wonderful people, with whom I have enduring  friendships. This year  with changed circumstances, I am now able to gather up the collection of Pelargoniums (Geraniums to most people) I had in the nursery.  I look forward to  seeing the empty  tunnel houses full of colour  again, and having re-joined WWOOF, I look forward to meeting many more amazing young people.   I can take children please call to make arrangements to suit us both 🙂

I started with a pioneering spirit, dug the stump holes, planted the trees. Over a decade on, I have created spaces I wish to share and explore more.

I have already been a WWOOFer 10 years ago when I did a Work and Holiday year in New Zealand. I never forgot the awesome experiences I made with different kind of people and very different life styles and always wanted to do it again. Luckily I get the chance now to make more of these great experiences.

I want to be useful and productive and not destroy the Planet. WWOOF is a perfect place for me to volunteer. To get back to my philosophy of "small is beautiful" lifestyle and community. I want to visit scenic, different locations where I've never been. Where WWOOF Hosts will have interesting and sustainable projects. Variety is the spice of (my) life. Whilst I'm not skilled in a lot of the farming techniques that WWOOF Hosts will be using, I'm happy to learn. I'm not afraid of hard work or long hours. I'm average strength and fitness. I just spent a few weeks in Central Otago farming country in New Zealand helping my friend on her property. Acting as her clayton's WWOOFer. Loved it. But I'd already decided I wanted to go WWOOFing in Australia long before I went to NZ. It's been an aim for many years. Just a matter now of getting the van and bike on the road. Seize opportunities as they arise. While at same time helping hardworking, conscious people realise their own sustainable, small carbon footprint lifestyle.
