Large backyard garden. I have fruit trees, vegie beds, bee hive and chooks. My house is in walking distance to shopping centre, bus, leisure centre and library. I have some internet access, and bedroom has shower and basin attached. I volunteer in the Grovedale Community Garden(it has a facebook page); in the Grovedale Community Orchard(also has a facebook page); and buy and help with the Grovedale Veggie Box which supplies me with fresh, organic vegetables(also facebook page). From all these places I learn more about how to sustainably garden and look after my chickens.

The first big interest of working in wwoofing is to meet good people willing to share with us some time and knowledge. As we both are nature and animals lovers we have turned to wwoofing as it seems to be a fair way to spend time in Australia

City/Town: Buffalo
Farming Methods: Permaculture
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Separate Building, BYO Accommodation
All Foods Farm is situated in Buffalo, South Gippsland , Victoria. The farm has been operating since 2004 and is run on sustainable agriculture and permaculture principles, with emphasis on organically grown, fresh produce. As sustainable property we grow a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, mostly as older styles and heritage varieties. With a mixed orchard of apples, pears, stone fruits and berries we supply our customers with fresh, seasonal produce that they rarely get to experience when shopping at any large scale supermarket. In the picking season for fruit we attend local Farmers markets. Our current project is establishing our shop frontage directly from the property.  We are a bit more than a hobby farm, but not quite  a commercial farm.

I joined WWOOF looking to get some hands on work and to engage my son in a variety of worldly experiences, learning about the environment and life skills. We were supposed to be travelling Australia but with COVID that has not happened so instead of sitting around waiting we want to get out and be useful.

Skills I Want to Learn:
I joined WWOOF for two main reasons. First, in my study of environmental science and climate change, I've realized how large a role agriculture plays in carbon emissions, especially through land use changes, in a way that is often overlooked. Given the time I have, I wanted to experience a more in depth perspective into the agricultural industry. Second, I spent half of my 3rd year of high school at a selective semester program on a farm in Vermont (the Mountain School), and really loved the experience. I was able to better understand the context of my food and the implications of the food choices I make.

We are in a position in our lives where we can drop everything and have an experience such as the one offered by wwoof. We have an 18 month old daughter who we would hopefully join us on the experience. We have both gained various skills from both of our respective professions and we would like to channel that into a more agricultural settings. After doing research we feel the wwoof experience will give us the tools we need to broaden or competency in agricultural life.

I have unofficially Wwoofed in Byron a few years ago, and also in Wisconsin USA- through wwoof USA. I greatly enjoyed both stays, especially working with animals. I am looking to join a farm possibly on a more permanent basis, if the feelings are mutual of course. I have a very cute 3.6m long compact Tiny House I have built myself, which has everything I need, I have Minka the Sheppard who is very well trained and loves children. My lifestyle is very healthy and peaceful, I like things neat and organised and enjoy outdoor adventures, along with peaceful down time. I would love to find a family and farm where I am out of the way, but also a great addition and help. Thank you.
