It was always clear for us to take a gap year after school and before studying. After some research we´ve discovered WWOOF! It´s an unique way to discover Australia from an inside perspective – always in contact with locals. Additionally, we want to improve our English skills, meet new people and explore a new way of living in an interesting culture which is very different to the German one. Nowadays the majority of groceries are treated with pesticides and genetic engineering. So it´s very important for us to support organic methods. In general, we´re interested in learning about your working methods and achieving new skills. Especially working on farms makes it possible to stay active in nature. We both are pet owners so we enjoy spending time with animals and taking care of them. Furthermore we hope we´ll develop ourselves in new situations, far away from home, and collect memories that will stay in our head forever!

Of course I’m WWOOFing to travel and see the world but what I’m really looking for out of this experience is to connect to nature and get some headspace, to learn new skills, to get my hands dirty, and to come away with more knowledge about the earth and it’s creatures, including myself. I’m really excited about learning all about organic farming in every way it’s practiced. I have very far off goals of someday having my own little spot of land, even if that’s just a big vegetable garden in a backyard, and am really passionate about sustainable practices and giving back to earth as well as only taking what is absolutely needed.

The main purpose of joining WWOOF is to have practical experience of a sustainable lifestyle. I have learned about permaculture, organic farming and such "sustainable" concepts at my university. However, I have not actually tried such lives in a certain period of time. Thus, I would like to practically experience permaculture and deepen my thoughts on sustainable lifestyles through WWOOFing,

I have known and appreciated organic farming since my youth. I like being in nature and like work where you can see what you have achieved. A wonderful contrast to working in the office. When I first heard about WWOOF, I immediately knew that I wanted to do just that.

We joined WWOOF because our ambition is to learn more about farming and hopefully embrace it as a part of our future lifestyles. Marilene is from a family which has a long history of farming in the Greek islands and Emily has spent a majority of her childhood and youth exploring the many national parks of the US. Exploring nature and sustainable living are close to our hearts and we see them as crucial parts of ensuring a safe future for our planet.

Our passion is travelling, and we enjoy meeting new and interesting people around the world, and we already spent time in Australia both working and travelling. It was an exciting time in an impressive country we made many valuable acquaintances while there. Many years later, we would now like to share the positive experience with our kids and introduce them to Australia’s nature and the Aussie lifestyle. We are a hands-on young family, and we love skilled manual work. My wife and I, we both grew up in a working-class-family. For our work-life-balance, we spend a lot of time in our own forest or on our neighbour’s farm. We would enjoy having a break from our daily life in office and spend some quality time with hands-on physical work for/with you.   Furthermore, improving our English will be a positive side effect of joining WWOOF. Especially for our kids who started studying English at school last summer.   Joining WWOOF gives us the unique opportunity to combine both our favourite work activities and making a wonderful and exciting experience as a family Down-Under and in nature.

I wanted to join WWOOF because as I said, my goal is to learn about the most cultures and habits I can, around the world. And what is better than directly learn in a farm, living with the host 🙂 ! I also always wanted to go in Australia, I want to learn about the way to live in Australia in particular in a farm, I want to become helpful, meet new people, and also improve my English. Thank you 🙂 lora Valancogne

We hope to achive some experiences about the Australian culture, the nature, the language or just the daily life of the Australians. Also we are very exited to see a completly diffrent way of life, on the other side of the world. The crucial point to help other families there so that we can take part in their lives is very important for us. Because everyone can benefit from it and on top of this we can exchange together. Finally this made us decide for WWOOFing.

I heard WWOOF was a good way to work around Australia and to find places to stay in different regional parts of the country, allowing me to see the sights, have a roof over my head and learn different things about the industry whilst working.
