We are on a 100 yr old Apple Orchard in the stunning Blue Mountains. We have 8000 trees and 80 different varieties of apples. We have also just started doing weddings and have one airbnb accommodation. I would explain our place as more of a boutique orchard. We are a small family run business. My husband Sam has been doing all the work himself but it's all getting a bit too much so we need some extra hands to help out. It's a stunning little spot with the iconic blue mountains escarpment views off the back of the property. Along with the apples we have 30 chickens, 2 Alpacas, 6 sheep and one Maremma dog. We are a friendly and warm family who are keen to get a helping hand.

Do you love chooks? Our farm is a pastured egg farm, we have 1500 lovely girls that live outside on pasture all year round, in mobile chicken caravans.  The farm follows regenerative farming principles where its all about building the soil, planting trees, providing habitat for native animals as well as generating an income from yummy, healthy organic eggs. There is a large permaculture garden that combines edibles foods, native plants, flowers and habitat for insects and birds as well as shade around the house.  We are always looking for help in the garden and if you love art and sculpture then please feel free to add your sculpture to the garden or in the paddocks around the farm. The girls provide us with 800-1200 eggs every day so there is daily egg collecting if that interests you. Plus the eggs have to be candled, graded, stamped and packed each day. Weekends involve selling the eggs at a Farmers Market in Perth or the local Bunbury Market and help is always appreciated with markets. We encourage people that love art, gardening, dogs, alpacas, geese, organic farming, permaculture, making sculptures, building things, stargazing, animals, and hanging our with the chooks, lots of chooks 🙂

We joined WWOOF because we are on working holiday visas and would like to do 88 days of regional work so that we can stay in Australia for a second year. We think volunteer work is a great way to do this!

Our farm is a mixed cropping, and grazing property set in a stunning valley in the foothills of the Richmond ranges National Park. We grow ginger, turmeric and garlic, along with vegetables, berries and a mixed fruit and nut orchard. Our animals include a small Jersey dairy herd, a few beef cows and five steers for meat. We also have five heritage breeding sows and a boar, and currently piglets. In addition we have poultry, five runner ducks and a drake for eggs, and 13 baby young ducks for our future flock. We have a mixed flock of 15 chickens that produce gorgeous eggs daily. Finally, we have 13 guinea fowl, noisy, messy and often down-right annoying, but they eat ticks and keep snakes away. Other animals, we have two beautiful ginger cats for vermin control, mainly in the sheds, a cute and very naughty smooth-haired fox terrier, called Eddie, and a beautiful, loveable and majestic livestock guardian dog, a one year-old Maremma, called Baci.

I am going to be travelling around Australia by myself and want to connect with like-minded people and learn as much as possible along the way. I learn best through hands-on experience so I thought this would be a good way to learn while helping people along the way - win win!

Amberly is a 250 acre, family run cattle and free-range egg farm close to the Murrumbidgee River and conveniently located in the suburbs just 20 minutes from the centre of Canberra. 1500 unfenced chickens are free to range at will, protected by three beautiful Maremma guardian dogs. We have a large vegetable garden, a recently established mixed orchard, ducks and bees for family use. We also have a house cow Tilly and plenty of milk to make yogurt, butter and cheese. We firmly believe that sustainable farming means looking after the environment as the first priority. We have recently been received a national award from Landcare Australia for Innovation in Agriculature and Land Management. Work includes fencing, weeding, mowing, gardening, landscaping and working with the farm animals. Longer stays often see wwoofers learning new skills by getting involved in projects where we are building new infrastructure on the farm. Accomodation in our passive solar straw-bale house.
