Large backyard garden. I have fruit trees, vegie beds, bee hive and chooks. My house is in walking distance to shopping centre, bus, leisure centre and library. I have some internet access, and bedroom has shower and basin attached. I volunteer in the Grovedale Community Garden(it has a facebook page); in the Grovedale Community Orchard(also has a facebook page); and buy and help with the Grovedale Veggie Box which supplies me with fresh, organic vegetables(also facebook page). From all these places I learn more about how to sustainably garden and look after my chickens.

Farming Methods: Permaculture
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Separate Building, BYO Accommodation
All Foods Farm is situated in Buffalo, South Gippsland , Victoria. The farm has been operating since 2004 and is run on sustainable agriculture and permaculture principles, with emphasis on organically grown, fresh produce. As sustainable property we grow a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, mostly as older styles and heritage varieties. With a mixed orchard of apples, pears, stone fruits and berries we supply our customers with fresh, seasonal produce that they rarely get to experience when shopping at any large scale supermarket. In the picking season for fruit we attend local Farmers markets. Our current project is establishing our shop frontage directly from the property.  We are a bit more than a hobby farm, but not quite  a commercial farm.

City/Town: Dulacca
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home
Small town block ,1/2 an acre in rural village of Dulacca which is 400 kms west of Brisbane (this is the outback ) Dry climate rainfall average 80 mm. Summers are hot and dry winters are coolwith a few weeks of frost. Have removed rubbish and dangerous weeds over a ten year period while working away. Have done some soil improvement but about to do large scale mulch and fertilise using horse, cow and chicken manure as well as natural minerals in layers with straw and hay. Have also used some paper and cardboard waste to increase the initial organic levels of the soil as the cardboard protects the root systems of developing plants in a better way than straw. Use blood and bone and trace elements as the soil is leached and often the water quality is poor. My house is an old shop built in 1924 with 3 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms both with showers and a large verandah round the house. I am waiting for my solar to go on so electricity is from the grid. My hot water is gas heated. I have a wood stove / heater to be put in to heat the big rooms in winter. The house is basic but spacious and is 30 x15 metres. I want to have a full year fruit and vegetable supply so have some raised beds for frosty weather, some beds for vegetables and herbs and will be putting in a small hydroponic system for summer salad veges as the intense heat burns off plants in beds. I have a great deal of experience in organic principals in a full farm environment, in my backyard style present situation. Interestinly I have pioneered some of the largest “industrial “organic operations in the world using wastes from all industries to combine green wastes, papers, cardboards, organic sludges, contaminated and depleted soils with sawdust, straw, vegetable waste, poultry, cattle, horse, pig and sheep manures as well as human biosolids to reinvigorate poor Australian soils for forestry, farming and to rehabilitate mined land to productive country. Many of these principles which I helped develop I use in my own little plot. The area here is remote but I live 20 metres from the pub. I do not smoke, do drugs or drink but have no objection to drinkers. I will not tolerate drug use. My house is clean but untidy and I am easy going. I work a 12 step program and try to live a spiritual life one day at a time, what others do is their business. I eat well as we have plentiful beef, chicken and sheep meat production in the area. Seafood is always available. My diet is now more fruit and vegetable based than when I was younger but visitors are free to eat and drink as they see fit .

We have already spent a year in Australia and we are starting the second. We like to travel a lot, meet people, discover the country and learn a lot of things. Nature lovers, we really enjoy walking and hiking or just being outside, taking care of animals, gardening and doing DIY. We spent one year in New Zealand five years ago and we did a lot of Wwoofing. We loved it ! Now our goal is to get a third year helping hosts who are in bushfire recovery areas and doing seasonal work. Looking forward to meeting you.

Nine Planets lies at the end of the Chapman River Sanctuary adjacent Lashmar's Lagoon Sanctuary and about 600 meters from Antechamber Bay, one of the largest, most pristine and undisturbed beaches on Kangaroo Island's coast. The Chapman River teams with bream and the beach is a sanctuary for endangered hooded plovers which nest in the sand just above the high water line in late spring. Garfish, tommies, flathead and mullet can be caught from the beach if you are adept at shore fishing. Lashmar's Lagoon is a sanctuary for waterbirds and teems with black swans, ducks, pelicans, sacred ibis and other birds. In winter and spring black swans grazing in pasture adjacent the lagoon outnumber farmers' sheep. Kangaroos, wallabies and goannas usually visit daily and dozens of bird species including magpies, currawongs, superb fairywrens, honeyeaters, thornbills, red browed finches and silver eyes call in for a drink and/or bath, whilst wedge tailed eagles and the very rare white bellied sea eagle may be seen soaring overhead. At night the calls of boobook owls can be heard in the distance. It is often windy, but rarely very hot or very cold.
