Cootharaba Lake Retreat - A Place to relax and Learn Last Active: active 5 minutes ago City/Town: Boreen PointViewFarming Methods: PermacultureAccommodation Type: In Our Home, Separate Building, Caravan, BYO AccommodationHello this Kate and Big Al here. We are happy to welcome you. Lake Cootharaba retreat, our suburban Permaculture garden and retreat is situated in Boreen Point, a small village surrounded by the beautiful biosphere region of Cooloola National Park, on the shores of the stunning Lake Cootharaba and 1/2 hr from Noosa. Our garden has evolved organically over the years according to permaculture principles and ethics. A bohemian place with little nooks and grannies for reflection and relaxing. The garden is to be redesigned as a Permaculture teaching space. We also moved a small house onto a three acre rural property in Pomona, 20 minutes from Boreen Point two years ago. Half the property and the gardens around the newly established house are to be incorporated into a Permaculture design. So there is lots to learn and share and we are really open to learning too. With challenges due to Covid and difficulties with accomodation for many people we are open to longer stays and possibilities to earn extra income in the neighbourhood or on the property. We have a few types of accomodation to choose from. Hoping to hear from you. Best wishes Kate and Al. The Creek Whitsundays Last Active: active 11 minutes ago City/Town: Kelsey Creek via ProserpineViewFarming Methods: OrganicAccommodation Type: Separate BuildingWe have a 800 acre farm west of Airlie Beach in The Whitsundays, the gateway to The Great Barrier Reef. Ben and I have 2 boys, Archie and Royce who are 6 and 11. We are very passionate about regenerative farming, working with nature, not against it! We believe in breeding healthy, happy animals without the use of chemicals and taking care of the world underneath our feet. The farm is approved to hold workshops and day visits and we would like to set up a permaculture garden and produce healthy, nutrient dense food. We have built a beautiful timber barn to hold workshops and create an amazing space for people to come together and share wonderful experiences. EVA MACKELLAR Last Active: active 16 minutes ago City/Town: CalenViewFarming Methods: OrganicAccommodation Type: In Our HomeOur property is located between Airlie Beach and Mackay. We have several houses on the property, cattle and orchards. There is a permanent creek with large swimming holes and the property borders Eungella National Park so it is perfect for nature lovers. We are very laid back people who enjoy the outdoors. Caitlin Tacey Last Active: active 35 minutes ago Age: 21-25ViewGender: FemaleSkills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Propagating, Soil conservation, Beekeeping, Worm farming, Building, Natural building methodsAfter 4 years of studying am very eager to get out of the city and away from theoretical concepts and into the natural world with real people working hard to solve issues around food production. I cannot wait to have my hands in the soil rather than typing away on a laptop all day. Through WWOOFing I hope to gain an understanding of the real life practise of organic farming. Given I grew up in Victoria, I am not so much interested in a cultural exchange or spending time doing 'touristy' things but rather working and learning from growers and farmers. I do hope to one day own my own land and have my own kitchen garden and so (rather selfishly) also hope to learn a few tricks of the trade for my own food production. I currently have leafy greens growing out of planter boxes in my tiny garden out the front of my unit in the city and it ain't cutting it! Mt Misery Habitat Reserve, Huon Bush Retreats Last Active: active 1 hour, 8 minutes ago City/Town: HuonvilleViewFarming Methods: OrganicAccommodation Type: CaravanOur property is an eco-tourism retreat in a large private habitat reserve, 50 minutes south from Hobart Tasmania. Lots of birds, wildlife, forest, walking tracks. Variety of tasks, including construction, firewood cutting, walking track and cabin maintenance. As Covid has reduced our tourism activity, most tasks are physical and outdoor, associated with property maintenance.
