The Newton-Wordsworth Family
Our farm “Boraning” has been certified for over 35 years Bio-dynamic, which makes it the longest running broadacre organic (or biodynamic) farm in Western Australia. Our home “Boraning” is 2900 acres of Demeter Certified Bio-dynamic land in rolling hills, 2.5 hours south of Perth. We are honoured to have been recognised with the Western Australian Sustainability Award for our farming activities. “Boraning” is a diversified farm with many activities taking place on it.
Our family farm Is run by Myself, my Wife and our son. There’s always something to do on “Boraning” (the farm). We run beef cattle and sheep, grow olives and pistachios, and also run a horse stud and training centre.
Our son Vincent manages the farm. Volunteering with him includes looking after and handling the horses, cattle and sheep work, cutting and collecting wood, building yards, fencing, feeding mobs of cattle or sheep, checking the farm animals, and keeping the farm running.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
We became WWOOF hosts in 1994 because we are passionate about biodynamic/organic agriculture, gardening, our lifestyle and we wanted to share with people who are interested to come and learn through ‘doing’.
On a 2,900 acre biodynamic farm such as ours there are almost unlimited activities we can choose to do in a day and we find the life we have so exciting we want to share this with as many people as we possibly can have here at any one time.
We have had beautiful people from all over the world to come to Boraning and this has enriched both our life and theirs in many ways.
We also love hearing about the people who come here and learn from them also about the life they lead back in their homeland.
WWOOF is an amazing organisation which helps people with common interests to find each other!

Organic/Biological methods we use
We farm using Biodynamic (organic) methods. We use natural living preparations to bring life to the soil and those who dwell upon it. We do not use chemical poisons or fertilisers or GMOs. Our farm is extremely diversified … we “grow” animals – cattle, sheep, horses, poultry. We also grow trees – thousands of native trees, orchards and veges. We also garden for beauty and pleasure.
