Kelly and William Newton-Wordsworth are the longest running broadacre biodynamic or organic farmers in Western Australia. They have been farming 2,900 acres of land, ‘Boraning’, in the Quindanning Valley since 1988. They have been hosting WWOOFERS since 1994. Together with their son Vincent, who now manages ‘Boraning’ they are passionately making the difference they can make in as many ways as they possibly can. They have been bringing in the life activating methods of farming from Rudolf Steiner, with the use of ‘500’ which comes from placing cow manure into cow horns and burying them under the ground for 3 months during the winter, since 1988. They have also been farming without the use of artificial fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides,or any other poisons since that time. They have been hugely involved in the fight for the last of the Karri Forests in Western Australia, since 1994. Kelly is an international singer and composer who has used her songs to help people to know what is happening around the world in relation to the environment and humanity. Her song, ‘What is happening to our forests?’ was an instrument used to bring attention to the plight of the WA forests. Together the forest warriors saved over one million hectares of forest in Western Australia. Kelly, William and their children have been involved in different forms of activism over the last many years. They have all taken part in the tree planting projects at ‘Boraning’, Together with the help of many wonderful people over the years, they have planted around 100,000 native trees. They have also planted trees from around the world. They farm cattle, sheep and have a horse stud. William has been riding as a member of the elite squad of riders in Western Australia. He has ridden at an international level in the sport of Three Day eventing. Vincent has been very involved in training and riding the horses for competition. He won the ‘Blackwood Ironman’ competition, in 2022, which required running, canoeing, swimming, riding a horse and cycling. There is time for all WWOOFERS to be able to join him for fitness training if they are interested. At ‘Boraning’ they also grow many fruits and vegetables. They have accommodation and events. Kelly, William and Vincent all live a very exciting life at Boraning and internationally, through their spiritual life. Kelly and William became Christians in 1995. They live a life to serve God and have a Christian Community centre. All WWOOFERS are welcome to apply to come. They welcome people whatever their beliefs. They simply ask for people to respect their beliefs and work in with everyone to have an atmosphere of peace, harmony and beauty.
