    Short Property Description

A Paradise of food species from all over, Bamboos, Kayaking, fermenting, wicking beds, hands on with the sheep, & chickens, these are just some of the things awaiting you when you come to Bucca Haven, our 5 acres of on going, developing organic food forest. We have almost 50 bamboo clumps, all mature & provide endless mulch, shade & timber material for all sorts of projects. It is called the thinking mans timber. We grow an abundant and varied amount of food plants all year round, we can use anything from 10 to 30 different species in our green salad, none of which is lettuce! We have a number of different species of food plants from across the sub tropical regions of the earth, & are always on the lookout for more variety. We enjoy a sunny, warm to hot climate, 20c to 38c except in winter which for us in June thru to Sept which could be as low as 7c overnight to 27c daily & anything in between. We love good food, healthy food, home grown food. So if you like to cook, great! When the dam is full, it is our swimming hole. When the dam is low, we go 6k to the Kolan River for a cool swim, or Kayak. We are 31km from Bundaberg & 27 km from Gin Gin. I can collect you from either town if you do not have your own transport. We are a Bible believing family, in our mid 60’s, still active, always learning, gardening, swimming, kayaking & socialising. But we need you to speak English as we don’t have any other language. If you can read English too that is even better.

    Organic/Biological methods we use

We use weed tea or other organic liquid fertilisers for the garden, cow, sheep, or chicken manure, mulch, woodchips & any organic material we can get our hands on to go through the shredder, mainly palm leaves.

Wood chips & dump mulch are seasoned in piles until needed, then added to the mix. We use a tractor for this work.

Worms, worm feeding buckets, wicking beds, bathtub bogs, chop & drop methods, heavy & deep mulching, pit gardening, hugel lines, the burying of timber to grow on top, & cover crops. These are the areas of interest on our hobby farm.
