Short Property Description
Our property is a private home in natural forest within in a large private habitat reserve, 50 minutes south from Hobart Tasmania.
Lots of birds, wildlife, forest, walking tracks. Variety of tasks, including construction, firewood cutting, walking track and building construction.
Most tasks are physical and outdoor, associated with pole frame house construction and property maintenance.
Organic/Biological methods we use
This is not a farm. We do not have captive animals or non-native plants. This is an offgrid house in private habitat reserve, a place of exceptional natural beauty where we protect the native habitats and animals and share this with guest. Conservation covenants protect the natural values.
This is a good place to learn about sustainable technology. Our electricity is off grid solar, heating is wood fired with most wood being grown on the property. We have dry compost toilets, we harvest, treat and dispose our own water. The reserve is 3800 tonnes per year carbon positive.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
We like to share our offgrid forest lifestyle with people who want to learn. We enjoy hosting people from different cultures. It is good to get a bit of help with some tasks. We are an off grid forest house, not a commercial farm.
