We – Carola, Ross and eldest son Liam – live in the east Otways on 4 acres next to the Otways National Park. The beach and world famous Great Ocean Road is 25 min away by car and the next set of shops 15 min. The next larger town Geelong is 30 min and Melbourne 90 min by car. Endless bushwalk opportunities are right out the front gate.
We will enjoy meeting a diverse lot of folks from all over the world who are happy and willing to work with us and share our lives for a little while. Ross has worked running community gardens for over 25 years and is always happy to share his knowledge relating to everything gardening, building and working with wood and metal.
We will also enjoy sharing cooking and eating meals from various cultures and cuisines and learning about your culture and homeland.
Organic/Biological methods we use
We practice basic organic farming with elements of permaculture. We do not use chemicals. We make our own compost and our horses supply us with endless amounts of manure. We hand weed and slash and mulch as appropriate to the season. Our garden is set up to be water-wise and mostly connected to a semi-automatic watering system.
We make our own sourdough bread, kimchi and beer. We also make jam, dried fruit and preserves.
