We stayed at Donny’s place for a month and had a wonderful time! This was our first wwoofing experience and it was absolutely perfect. We got to know Donny quite well and felt very comfortable living with him. He always communicated very well about what tasks we would be working on and he made sure we didn’t spend too much time in the hot sun. This meant that we would get an early start and get some things done while it’s cool and then take a midday break and just hangout until it gets a bit cooler again. It’s also worth noting that he was always working while we were, and he never asked us to do anything he wouldn’t do himself. The work basically just involves taking care of the property and helping to realize the vision Donny has for the place. This meant that we could see the progress we were making as we completed each task which was very rewarding. We loved chatting with Donny about all kinds of things and having a beer (which he brews). The brewing process was also a highlight as it was fun to learn about and we got to enjoy the product! Donny was also kind enough to take us on a variety of great excursions to beautiful and exciting locations that ordinary tourists would never get to see. We also loved watching some fun movies and listening to Aussie radio and news. We really feel like we learned a lot from Donny and had a formative experience that we’ll remember fondly forever. I could go on but the point is that this was an amazing experience and you’d be lucky to wwoof with Donny!

I can not recommend this place for me

Response
Rintaro is correct. This host does not tolerate lazy or lies. I much prefer honesty and commitment to the WWOOF principals. Hosts are not here to facilitate your holiday.

Stayed there for two months and it was a wonderful memory. Donny tried to understand my poor English. Whenever he starts to eat something, he always says "itadakimasu (thank you for the meal)" and he also knows a few other Japanese words, so I felt close to him. I stayed with him alone, so I was a little worried at first because there was no door to the bedroom and only a curtain separating it from the living room, but it was actually very safe. There is no need to worry about security. I'm not good with bugs, but Donny and his friends touch the freshly cut wood with their bare hands, so my value against bugs were kinda changed. He took me on a nice hike, drive and meal for my birthday. It's always exciting when a kangaroo passes in front of or near the car! I was pleasure to stay with you!

My name is XIAOYAN, and I recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in my first WWOOFing experience with Donny. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and share my positive experiences. First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for being such a wonderful host. From the moment I arrived, you made me feel welcome and at home. Your kindness and generosity created a warm and inviting atmosphere that made my stay truly memorable. One of the highlights of my time with you was undoubtedly the delicious meals you prepared. Your culinary skills are impressive, and I thoroughly enjoyed every meal. The fact that you are not only a welcoming host but also a fantastic cook added an extra layer of joy to my WWOOFing experience. I also appreciate the emphasis you placed on safety. The environment you've created is not only nurturing but also secure. It was evident that you prioritize the well-being of your WWOOFers, and that made my stay all the more comfortable. During my two-month stay, I had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with three other female WWOOFers who came and went. The camaraderie and sense of community among us added to the overall positive atmosphere. Your ability to foster such a supportive environment speaks volumes about your hosting skills. Moreover, I am grateful for the wealth of knowledge you shared with me and the other WWOOFers. Your willingness to teach about various aspects of life, language, gardening, and house building enhanced our learning experience. Your passion for sharing knowledge is truly commendable, and it made my time with you not only enjoyable but also enriching. In conclusion, I want to express my sincere appreciation for the incredible WWOOFing experience with Donny. Thank Donny, for being such a fantastic host and for creating a space where learning, growth, and friendship flourish. I will cherish the memories from my time with Donny, and I hope our paths cross again in the future.

I had a WWOOF stay at Donny's house for two months. The time has flown by. He is a musician, artist, planner, and good friend. His food is always delicious! WWOOF's work includes painting and other building activities as well as gardening, which keeps me occupied every day. If you are new to WWOOF, don't worry, it is not difficult. I don't speak English very well, but Donny taught me a lot of things, including how to pronounce English. After work, you can have a beer and watch wild kangaroos or beautiful sunset, it is a very cozy and wonderful place! ✨ I highly recommend this place to all kinds of WWOOFers, including Japanese like me 😊. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Donny!

Donny is a fantastic WWOOF host. I was somewhat apprehensive about WWOOFing with this being my first taste of it. However, my nerves were quickly put to rest with Donny's warm embrace. He is very welcoming and makes you feel at home from the very get go. I spent 3 weeks with Donny in the town of Mumbil. Together we worked on his amazing restoration project, which was always fun. He has a refreshing approach to building, using recycled materials and sawment (sand, sawdust and cement). We also prepared some garden beds for spring planting. The work load was very fair with plenty of time to enjoy the country Australian lifestyle. We spent nights by the fireplace exchanging stories and listening to music together (he is a wonderful harmoica player). I would highly recommend Donny to any future WWOOFers looking for a unique experience. Thankyou for everything Donny, I hope to see you again.

Thank you Donny for a fantastic experience and memorable introduction to Wwoofing. Donny is a wonderful man: adventurous, accomodating, friendly and funny, with lots of experience. You will learn lots from him, practical and philosophical. Over the 2 weeks that I stayed we had many interesting conversations, and I never felt pressured to do anything that Donny wouldn't do himself. The tent Mahal sleeping set up was comfy and private, Donny cooked delicious and healthy food. It will be great to return to see the veggie patches, your dream garden and house renovation shape up and visit you and the community that you are adding life and music to. Good luck with it all Donny..let me know when I can come and help!

Donny is a wonderful and welcoming host. I spent time with him not only at the island property, but I also had the chance to visit Billen Cliffs. Both were unique experiences! At Billen Cliffs, you get to live a bit rugged, in a campervan with a composting toilet! Here, I helped to establish vege garden beds and got to meet the community at the Billen Cliffs christmas party. In contrast, I spent some time at the island, which provided lovely views of the bay while I helped with beach rehabilitation! By the end of my two week stay, it felt like I was visiting family, and I even came back to visit Donny a few weeks later with a friend. I love that Donny prioritizes the sharing of knowledge and laughs, it is never just about doing the work. You can expect plenty of interesting conversations and drum circles if you plan to WWOOF with Donny! I'm looking forward to returning in the future!
