Short Property Description

Hi there, We live in a big house in Sydney, just 30min bus ride to the centre of the city, yet we’re in the middle of a bushland paradise.

Volunteering is on our bush-land renewal project and includes removal of invasive weeds and planting new native trees. We have gum trees, ferns and native bushes and are visited by wallabies, possums, bandicoots, lyrebirds, kookaburras and other native birds. Hours are flexible depending on the weather and so that you can enjoy the best that Sydney has to offer.

Accommodation for up to 1-2 adults within my home, in your own room with bathroom. The work best suits a couple or 2 friends traveling together. We cook and eat together and have a healthy diet. Vegetarians/vegans can be catered for. Non smokers only. Unlimited  broadband internet, good WiFi, excellent phone reception, Netflix, bicycles, and great running and walking tracks. Length of stay negotiable with 2 weeks preferred.

We have 2  friendly indoor cats.

As we are often the first stop for new travellers, we have a couple of things you should know before you come to Australia.    Cheap Mobile Phone plans cost $AUD10 to 20 per month.   There are also a bunch of pay as you go options.   Aldi and Amaysim are 2 examples of retailers, there are many.  All retailers will use one of three networks Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone.   Telstra currently has the best network, if you are going remote.

Get yourself a travel card a few weeks before you leave home.   We use Wise.   There are others.   The travel debit card offers very cheap exchange rates, it all works within the app, without emails or sms authorisations, but importantly for anyone planning to earn money in Australia, it allows you to add on a local bank account number, directly in the app.   Check it out.      We normally use our phone/card for all day to day expenditure, you need very little cash.
