“Namoorook” circa 1895, is a beautifully restored homestead on 71 acres of farm land approximately 1.5 kms from Leongatha and 130kms from Melbourne. Adopting regenerative agricultural practices, Namoorook is a mixed farming operation with livestock, organic fruit orchard and vegetable gardens.
We hope it will become an example of how food and farming systems can use the power of nature to increase biodiversity, enrich the soil, capture carbon, improve watersheds enhancing the entire ecosystem.
Want to share knowledge, experiences, and country hospitality. As a recent start up we are looking for assistance to help establish the potential of the property. We are interested in engaging with others and hearing their stories and experiences. We are strong advocates of re-creating local food systems. We have room and work to share!!
Working closely with the Leongatha Community Garden to create a Community Farm, known as “The Commons”. We are strong advocates for the recreation of local food systems. Working with a range of different local community groups and institutions to advance community awareness of the importance of local food systems, the need for local aggregator of fresh food and appropriate infrastructure (the “missing middle”) This involves a number of learning opportunities courses/events that would be free to any WWoof members.
