Catherina McKinley
136 acres (55ha) of gorgeous hill country farm, surrounded by the Easter National Park. We farm Marron (freshwater crayfish), in 10ac (4ha) of dams.  We’ve recently added 50 Trout to the Spring Dam, a new project !!!
We are situated in the beautiful Southwest of Western Australia just south of Nannup & close to tourist destinations, including Margaret River (70km).
We currently have 9 goats,  Jolene & Vincent van Goat in charge. Virginia Wolfe our Black rescue Pig is tasked with soil aeration. Basically digging up paddocks & making a bloody mess, she is so much fun to have around.
We have just added sheep to our livestock mix, with 18 ewes, Duncan the ram  & this year 22 new lambs. We have 16 chooks (chickens) for fresh eggs and Russel Crow III, the rooster all housed at the “new” Hilton Hen House, built especially for the free range eggs, manure and care of our avocado orchard.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

Murray relocated from Perth to Nannup 5 years ago after selling his accounting practice. We, quite by accident became Marron farmers. After the farm was purchased, Murray discovered Marron naturally occurring in the farm dams. This was supposed to be semiretirement, but we both enjoy the healthy outdoor lifestyle so much, that we  work the farm full time, with the help of family, friends & WWOOFers.
We enjoy passing on what knowledge we have, to those we work with & the things we’ve both learnt from people who stay on the farm. Murray completed a Post Grad degree in permaculture & runs the farm along Mollison & Holgram principles, & a good dose of organic & biodynamic technique.

Organic/Biological methods we use

We are a Permaculture form and use organic & biodynamic methods of farming.
