Short Property Description
Located in the Acheron Valley along the banks of the Goulburn river, picturesque panoramic views over the hills and the ranges are in abundance. My husband and I live on a 130 acre farm with about 60 kangaroos, approximatly 2 hours from Melbourne CBD. We have a fantastic outlook when the clouds roll in up the valley and over the nearby Cathedral Ranges, a popular hiking and camping destination, while Mt Bulla, (resort and the ski slopes) are located in the far distance about 1 1/2 hours drive away. The views are exceptional and provide much inspiration for our artwork and creative pursuits.
Located just North of the Yarra Valley, we are situated in prime farming land 270metres above sea level, the Goulburn River winds it way past our property and into the distance. We are situated in the gateway to the North Central region of the State of Victoria. We have a lot of resident wildlife including the hairy nosed wombat, echidnas, many birds such as cockatoos, kookaburras, blue wrens and honey eaters to name a few. A stepping stone if you like, to many agricultural industries including orcharding, dairying, vineculture, and horticulture.
In our imediate area we have wineries, cherry orchards, aquaculture, beef production, and horticulutal interests. Formally a dairy farm, our farm is quite large and features beef cattle, and horses. We are establishing an orchard/veggie garden and we have many house and garden maintenance jobs to complete. Although not certified, we do not use pesticides and aim to be organic whenever possible. We plan to build on and extend the 50 years of work including extensive tree planting that my parents have completed on the farm and we hope to create a wetland in the future.
After a short stint with WWOOFers back in 2018, we have opened up our house and farm again to this wonderful experience. Take a trip on the wild side down under, we welcome your interest. Please send us a message via this platform and also text Caz 0400 997 655 to prompt me to read it.
Organic/Biological methods we use
I recycle, reuse & repurpose items around the home & garden wherever possible. The main things that I need help in the garden with is digging, weeding, general tidy up of the garden such as sweeping, raking and pruning etc. I have a worm farm, a compost area of sorts, that I would love to develop further & I like to collect and mulch the leaves from prunings for the garden beads. We need help in the garden with digging, weeding, general tidy up of the garden, such as sweeping raking etc. Occasional window cleaning, horse husbandry, feeding chooks, cleaning out their home, digging of holes to plant trees, fencing, collecting wood and gerneral farm work.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
My husband is originally from Germany and I am Australian, we love to travel and by WWOOFing we get to experience people’s lives, their culture and learn first hand about where we would like to go next time we visit Europe. We are both creative people and love having interesting people around us, learning and sharing ideas and we enjoy the cultural exchange. We welcome those with a similar ethos and who want to learn more about our country. Our lives and work on the farm revolve around our home, garden, artistic pursuits and we would love the opportunity to share this fabulous part of the world with others. In turn we often find inspiration in those who we meet.
