The Berry Street farm is a 35-acre property, located on the western edge of the Blue Mountains in NSW. It has 6 acres of farmland which was originally part of a dairy Co-op, established in the early 1900s.
The property also has about 30 acres of bushland including two sandstone pagodas which provides expansive views around the countryside. We regularly have visits from native wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and a broad range of native birds.
We are currently establishing an organic vegetable and flower production system. I have 30 years experience in environmental restoration programs, including the use of rain gardens, passive irrigation systems, creek line and wetland rehabilitation and have an interest in regenerative agriculture.

We have had a long-term interest in small-area farming and permaculture and looking at increasing productivity in these systems without chemical and pesticides applications.
We also have a strong love of nature, and our natural systems are always going to be part of our future farming and land management practices.
As we are in the setup stage, there is an opportunity to share the design and development phases of the establishment of our farming systems with people of similar interests.
I have taught conservation and natural area management, creekline, wetland and bush regeneration at Technical Colleges in NSW over many years and I have had always enjoyed sharing my knowledge and experience with my students.
We hope that elements that people learn on the farm can be applied to their systems, whether now or into the future.
We have both travelled extensively and enjoy meeting people from other cultures and look forward to an opportunity to share our lives and experiences with you as well as learning from you.
Organic/Biological methods we use
Our growing methods focus on organic flower and vegetable production, with no synthetic fertilisers or herbicides used. Permaculture principles are central to my practice, supporting sustainable, diverse and resilient growing systems. I prioritise pollinators by creating habitats and maintaining flowering plants that support bees and other beneficial insects.
Composting is a key part of maintaining healthy, fertile soils and recycling organic materials back into the soils on the property. I also use animals, particularly goats, for natural weed control, reducing the need for mechanical or chemical intervention. Bush regeneration is central to my approach, helping protect and restore native bushland remnants and their biodiversity.
