Short Property Description

My family and I (4 grown up daughters and their partners) are creating a cafe/restaurant and child care centre on an 11 acre property on outskirts of Perth metro area. The property is 8km from Cockburn train station and 25 minutes drive from Perth city.

Whilst My children will be running the businesses, my interest lies in farming the surrounding land based on organic/permaculture principles, with food forests, organic vegetable growing area and small animals to teach children about caring for animals and how to grow food.

The organic food and pasture-fed eggs we grow will go to the restaurant to be a part of the menu. My wife is heavily involved in climate change action groups and that’s how she makes her contribution to the future of the planet. Whilst we have the same goals, I am more comfortable helping people learn about putting carbon back into the soil and enjoying the benefits of healthy food at the same time.

We hope to have day courses when we are established to teach people about permaculture. There is a lot of local interest in the project. We would love you to become involved and feel the satisfaction of seeing it evolve.

We have accommodation available in a small caravan for 2 people, plus a renovated sea container for 2 people

All food and lodging is included. You will need to do your own cooking and sometimes share food with other Woofers For more info go to ‘11 acre farm’ on Instagram to see the progress we are making.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

We love to see people travel the world and at the same time learn about organic farming and being self sufficient. Whilst I haven’t done it myself yet, my wife and I are interested in doing it on future holidays.

We are both 65 years old but love learning new things. We have been host families for overseas students in the past and really enjoyed it. As a result we have made friends all over the world, particularly in Europe.

Our interest in Permaculture has started only since we retired from our business 4 years ago. We look forward to hosting people with the same interests as us and sharing our knowledge and our food, as well as hearing about your lives and dreams.
