WWOOFing at Little Luscious Farm
Chloe, originally an international student from Malaysia, recently graduated and saw WWOOFing as an exciting opportunity to explore the countryside, gain hands on skills, step outside her comfort zone and truly learn about the lives and routines of those residing in regional Victoria. Travelling from her home in Melbourne she has had two local WWOOFing experiences so far and has gained life-long memories, friends and knowledge!

Her latest WWOOFing stay was at Little Luscious Farm, an eco-flower farm in Mirboo North, Victoria, which is also currently working on creating luxe accommodation and an event space. While she and her friend were only able to stay at the Host property for 5 days, they helped with many tasks and learnt a lot from their experience. Chloe’s favourite part of her time at this Host property was being able to try unique hands-on tasks that she would never usually encounter in her day-to-day life such as driving a tractor, flower cutting and arranging, and composting and mulching. During their time they were also able to deliver fresh flowers and collect bulbs from locals, giving them plenty of opportunities to engage with the local Mirboo North community. When reflecting on her time WWOOFing, Chloe said she found it really refreshing to unwind from the fast pace of the city, soak in the beautiful countryside views and connect with such welcoming hosts. Conversations with hosts Natasha and Peter, about their ambitious vision for the farm, showed her that a simple lifestyle can hold immense purpose. It made her realise that stepping out of our comfort zone, is exactly which gives us the momentum to drive our own lives forwards.

Chloe recommends WWOOFers use their time to have meaningful conversations and learn from their hosts and the local community. She said while it’s easy to focus on the manual labour, looking beyond the daily tasks reveals valuable stories, intentions and motivations. WWOOFing gives you inspiration and a fresh perspective to take back to your regular life.
