Ever since year one of coming to Australia, I've wanted to WWOOF, but a traveling tour guide job sent me from Brisbane to Perth where I immersed myself in the working life of a tour guide. I would like to add to my life experiences here in Australia now that I have the availability and with a supportive husband who will hold down the fort, I can tick it off my list!

My children are all adults now and I would love the opportunity to learn more about things like natural and/or any building techniques. I would also like to learn more about growing/cultivation of crops in different climates. And to be around like minded people who work with the earth in a sustainable and practical manner.

Health, the environment, nature, cities and food systems are so closely linked and yet sometimes it feels as if it's so disconnected. I want to know where my food comes from and see some best practice in terms of land stewardship. I've spent the last 2 years working in hospitals and I wanted to breathe freely again.

I hope to learn more about sustainability, farming, permaculture and living a life kinder to our planet. I hope to explore more of what Australia has to offer and meet wonderful, like-minded souls. I also look forward to finding my connection with nature again and moments of solitude.

I'm travelling with my friend, and I want to help out and learn a bit, and meet people, while on the road. My family are pretty green, and I've grown up to be careful of the impact I have on the planet. My dad works on a school farm, and has always been into indigenous planting and growing, so I'd like to do more of that as I travel as well.

We heard about WWOOF from a friend of ours who had a great time and told us about some amazing things he saw and learnt. Whilst we are travelling around Australia WWOOF seems like the perfect intersect between travelling, learning new things and creating new experiences. I have been a passionate gardener for a while and this is the way that I love learning things as opposed to the standard education systems. I am excited to meet some new people and learn about how agriculture in Australia also.

We are a couple Wim (male, 37 years of age, born in the Netherlands) and Melissa (female, 31 years of age, born in Germany). We met in New Zealand about 11 years ago and speak English with each other. We have been living in Australia for the past 10-ish years. We left our house in Walloon early April 2022 and have stored our belongings and tools in a small shipping container. We are now slowly traveling Australia in search for a new place to live. Our goal in this new place is to purchase land and setup our own homestead. On the way we would like to gain experience from other people that have established farms/homesteads.

My friend recommended it too me. I have wanted to get my foot in the door with farming for a while now... just never happened until now. Writing this I'm really excited to see where this takes me and the skills I learn. To be part of a way of farming I want to promote and practice.
