We live in the Yarra Valley on 5 acres of bush, gardens and paddocks, in a house that carries the history of the area. We are aiming to establish a self-sufficient, sustainable farm with organic orchard, veggie patch & farm animals. In 2009 we were affected by bushfire and ever since we have been trying not only to improve the property’s character and charm, but also prepare it to the next fire season
On our farm you can enjoy not only the company of our family (there are 4 of us), but also all the animals: 3 dogs, a cat, parrots, peacocks, pheasants and chooks.
You can experience farm life while making jams, chopping wood, feeding animals, organising veggie patch as well as fixing fencing, planting trees and preparing property for different weather condition.
Accommodation for 2 people in our home (spare rooms) or caravan. Mixed diet. Work hours are flexible as we have the policy of “work must be done.”
We have been WWOOF hosts for over 10 years. Our friends recommended the programme as we needed help with the property after 2009 fires. Ever since we have had many beautiful young people from all over the world at our house. They helped us a lot and we tried to provide them with home-like stay. We have created many special bonds. I suppose it’s never a dull day here.
Organic/Biological methods we use
We are trying to use our own soil if possible – scraps, chicken and horse manure, straw – I am still learning myself how to grow the best possible veggies and how to make our chicken happy. It is mostly fun:)
