The Little 3 Acres That Could
We’re a fun-loving, hands-on family running a 3-acre property just a short walk from a small selection of shops and supermarket and a quick ride to historic Ballarat. WWOOFers here can get stuck into everything from sowing seeds, propagating plants, pruning trees, and making compost — to caring for chickens and quail, hatching eggs and building with recycled materials.
We also love preserving and making: relish, pickles, jams, smoked meats, pickled eggs, dried tomatoes, and seasonal wreaths from herbs and flowers.
You’ll stay in a cosy off-grid caravan with compost toilet, solar power, grey water recycling, and Japanese-style home-cooked meals. We ask for 6 hours a day with weekends off.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
💬 Why We Became WWOOF Hosts
We became WWOOF hosts because we love sharing the joy (and chaos!) of life on a small productive acreage. It’s incredibly rewarding to welcome people from all walks of life, pass on what we’ve learned, and learn new things in return. There’s something special about growing food, raising animals, and building things together – especially when it’s done with good company, a bit of humour, and a shared meal at the end of the day.

Organic/Biological methods we use
We don’t use synthetic chemicals and prefer low-intervention, natural approaches that support long-term soil and animal health. Some of the methods we use include:
Our aim is to build a closed-loop, low-waste system that’s as regenerative as it is productive.
- No-dig gardening with compost and mulch to build healthy soil
- Worm farming and using worm tea to boost soil biology
- Homemade compost using garden waste, animal bedding, and kitchen scraps
- Natural pest management through healthy soil and chaos in the planting
- Slow, local inputs — we reuse, repurpose, and avoid bringing in outside chemicals
- Seed saving from healthy, adapted plants
- Integrated animal systems where chickens and quail contribute to compost and garden fertility
Our aim is to build a closed-loop, low-waste system that’s as regenerative as it is productive.
